Has any one else found that it can be very difficult to stop at a services in Holland? We’ve just traveled from the ACSI Bonte Hoeve site (very handy for Bruges and Ghent, although just over the border into Holland) to the Koningshof site near Leiden and drove through three services on the way because there was no room to park.

Spent 5 weeks touring The Netherlands 2 years ago. I know we stopped at least 3 times for lunch on various routes and days and I don't recall any problems. Maybe we were lucky.

We know that some services have a smaller capacity and occasionally in previous visits we have used petrol station areas where there is room for stopping.

If you are travelling on a Sunday then rules forbid most HGVs from travelling so there's bound to be less space. Much the same across Europe, with exceptions.

It's not only in Holland. On occasions, I've had the same problem in practically every country that I’ve been to, although maybe less so in France where service areas tend to be larger.

Good morning everyone.

We are looking at touring the Netherlands in September, it will be our first ever trip to Europe.  Any recommendations on campsites/where to stay.  We love culture, history, cycling, swimming.  Have you stayed exclusively in CAMC sites or independent ones. We are looking at traveling by ferry from Hull to Hook of Holland.

Many thanks :)
