Pleasant site but some (low season?) hitches

This site seems to be in evolution, in the lower levels there are many permanent pitches occupied by caravans with various types of awnings, some tidy but many cluttered overgrown and dilapidated. Virtually all were unoccupied in late May. There seems to be a slow process of converting these to touring pitches or chalets. Elsewhere much change has been has come about, Near to the entrance are new ‘Komfort Plus’ touring pitches that feature individual bathrooms. ‘Komfort’ pitches nearby replicate UK service pitches but neither of these categories seemed to be available to us on booking. Very new ‘Wild West’ wooden coaches on four wheels look new and seem fully connected to services. Basic grass pitches for caravans, motor homes, and tents but were placed in an attractive meadow area with attendant facilities. We were directed however to a pitch in an older sloping area which was adequate though like most of the site, lacked trimming of hedges and grass. Sanitary facilities were clean and warm and fullly equipped, One shortcoming was that the chemical closet emptying room was locked, this being discovered outside of the rather limited reception opening hours. More annoying was that on arrival the number plate recognition operated barrier had not been apprised of our registration causing a several car hold up while a site staff member was tracked down to allow us entry. Furthermore, we were again denied access on the following day. The site is good for a stopover on the way to Austria and beyond and if you wish wish to penetrate the nearby Nurburgring motor sport and car testing complex. We did not have time to take in the Eiffel Mountain Park area though imagine this worth visiting. The area is at a high altitude, we saw 1800 feet, and is cool as a result, we woke to seven degrees C in late May rising to fifteen C later in the day.

Below expected stan

On arrival I was accosted by an angry employee demanding I drive straight to my pitch, I couldn’t because we hadn’t been given that information, not how you want your holiday to start. Our pitch, number 20 was slick, wet clay. The general appearance overall around the standard pitches was neglect, hedges not maintained, scruffy. Unisex bathrooms are great, but the single sex wc/showers are awful, if the light goes out you’re in the pitch black. Chemical/ grey water disposal difficult/ non existent, cleaning machine doesn’t work with new cassettes. Beware the extra charges! Not a five star site, a shame, as the area is lovely.

Fantastic holiday

We spent 5 days here recently and loved every minute. the site is clean and organised with perfect English speaking staff who are super helpful. The Lake - Freilinger 2 minutes away is beautiful. Boat hire, lovely bar for food and a delish cold beer! There are fantastic walks for miles around with stunning scenery. Fresh bread every morning from the kiosk. Can’t recommend highly enough. Can’t wait to come back

A very pleasant site

Stayed for two nights in June. Lovely site, recommend the fully serviced comfort pitches. Helpful English speaking staff. Restaurant on site, although with a limited menu, the food is tasty and good value. Good area to visit, easy walk to the lake.Good for walking, cycling and dog friendly.

Eifel is Excellent for nature lovers and families

A site with good facilities English conversant staff I would recommend the comfort pitches they are large and have a fully serviced post on the pitch I mean fully serviced not just water electric and waste but also tv Ariel but also elsan disposal. sanitary facilities are very good with a family/shower room available, kids playgrounds in various locations and a skateboard park well away from the vans. we went into the cafe and had a good meal not a lot of choice but good value for money. I recommend a walk around the nearby lake and a trip out to Eifel national park especially the nazi holiday park, reception has all the info plus loads of other tourists places to visit vv good.
