We have tried to use combinations of colours and font size that provide sufficient contrast to make our pages easily readable.
The pages have been coded in such a way that it should be possible for you to increase or decrease the size of the text using built-in controls on your browser.
Some of the header graphic’s may not change in size, but you should be able to access alternative versions by hovering your mouse over them, to reveal a pop-up in Internet Explorer, or by right-clicking on them with your mouse and selecting Properties in most other browsers.
Text size
You can change the text size by selecting one of the 'A' text size options on the home page.
Alternatively, you can increase the size of the text on our webpages by selecting View in your browser menu, then 'select text size/larger' or 'increase font'.
You can also change text size by scrolling across the screen with the wheel of your mouse, whilst holding down the control key.
Colour
It may be useful for you to be able to change the colours or increase contrast, if you have poor vision.
- To ignore font and background colours choose the Internet options from the Tools menu at the top of the browser window.
- On the General tab of the window that appears, click the Accessibility button. This takes you to a menu where you can choose to ignore the way the page is formatted.
- Then return to the Internet options menu, and use the Colours and Fonts buttons to set your preferences.
Images
All non-decorative images will have 'alt' text descriptions - this is what screen readers will read, and if you hover the cursor over an image, the description will become visible.
