Lord Mayor's show

On 10th November, 2007, The Lord Mayor’s Show included a Club float. The brainchild of the Anglia Region, to celebrate The Club’s Centenary, this was the first time The Club had participated in this historic London event.

The display consisted of three giant inflatables, one in the shape of a caravan, another in the shape of a motor caravan and the third depicting Britain's beautiful countryside.

The float was carried by over 50 members from across the Regions as well as The Club's Chairman, Grenville Chamberlain. The picture below was taken during the dress rehearsal at The Club's Ferry Meadows Site, near Peterborough.

The Lord Mayor’s Show is a spectacular occasion, which, in 2006, attracted 6,000 participants, 66 floats, 21 marching bands, 21 carriages (including the glorious State Coach), and the giant figures of the City’s Guardians, Gog and Magog.

There is a traditional aircraft flypast and a two-minute silence to commemorate Armistice Day. A firework display, launched from a barge moored on the Thames, brings the day to a spectacular end.
