The latest site to be added to The Caravan Club’s network of 200 sites was officially opened by Club Chairman, Grenville Chamberlain and Club President Viscount Coke.
The 263-pitch New Forest Club Centenary Site in Bransgore will offer members all the high-quality facilities associated with Club Sites, in a popular and idyllic location.
The Caravan Club purchased what was then known as the Heathfield site in December 2006. Since then the land has been radically redesigned and extensively landscaped. The overall scheme has been completed at a cost of £5 million, and members will benefit from: WiFi access, Freeview capability, two shower blocks with underfloor heating, baby and toddler rooms and amenities for the disabled, a recycling area and a safe and fun children’s play area.
Nearby, The National Motor Museum at Beaulieu provides a stimulating and fascinating glimpse into the UK’s motoring past. Besides being in the historic and picturesque New Forest, the site is also well-located for visits to Bournemouth, Christchurch, Mudeford and Poole.
It is estimated that the New Forest Club Centenary Site will make a significant and positive contribution to the local tourism economy, providing the equivalent of over 134,000 ‘bed nights’ per annum for caravanners who will spend over £1.4 million off site in the locality this year.
The 25-acre location was once part of a Second World War airfield. There is a memorial just to the north of the site – as well as parts of the old runway that are still evident – which can attest to its proud history.
Grenville Chamberlain, Chairman of The Caravan Club, said: “This site is the product of a great deal of hard work and we feel it certainly does justice to this splendid location. Already the site is proving immensely popular and, with all the delights that the New Forest has to offer, we are confident its success will continue.”
