RSPB to host free fenland exhibition

28 August 2008

A photographic exhibition depicting the beauty of the country's fenlands is due to open at Cambridge University Museum of Zoology next month, the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) has announced.

It explains that the images which will make up the display are entries in its Fens Through a Lens competition, which challenged people to try their hand at taking shots of wildlife.

The submitted pictures included shots of starlings at sunset, dragonflies at Lakenheath Fen and the ouse Washes at dawn, the society notes.

Eleanor Fretwell, RSPB public affairs officer, states that with more than 300 entries to look at, the judging panel had some very tough decision to make.

"Overall, the sheer range of images on display show what a wealth of fantastic wildlife we have in the Fens. I hope the exhibition will encourage even more people to get out and discover the amazing wildlife on RSPB nature reserves for themselves," she adds.

The exhibition is due to open on September 19th and run until October 31st.

In other news, the RSPB has reminded people to remember to cast their votes in the Nature of Farming Award as voting closes on September 26th.
