IAM offers tips for carefree car journeys

As the summer holidays begin, many families will no doubt be planning to enjoy a break and travel under their own steam to do so.
In light of this, the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) has provided a number of hints and tips on how to keep younger relations occupied during car journeys to make the experience more enjoyable.
Books, pencils and electronic games - which are even better with the sound turned down - are recommended as suitable diversions for children.
In news that may be of interest to car insurance customers, the institute also suggests that every effort should be made to keep people in the car at a comfortable temperature as this can help to stop passengers becoming restless.
"The Department for Transport recommends that drivers take a break every two hours; anything longer and children could become restless," the IAM advice concludes.
In other news, car care firm Comma recently reminded motorists that National Oil Check Day takes place on July 25th.
