Cycling enthusiasts who have yet to try their hand at mountain biking have the opportunity to try out the pastime with expert guidance.
A pair of mountain biking for beginners rides will take place in the Peak District on June 14th and 21st to mark the beginning and conclusion of National Bike Week.
Park rangers will guide the rides, which begin and end at Fairholmes Cycle Hire in the Derwent Valley.
Riders will be able to take in the picturesque scenery around the Derwent and Howden reservoirs and also experience a variety of different cycling terrains and surfaces, the Peak District National Park Authority (PDNPA) explains.
Martyn Sharp, a ranger, comments: "We will include basic navigation, maintenance, bike-handling skills and the Countryside Code."
The event is free of charge to people who bring along their own helmets and bikes.
In other news from the Peak District, the PDNPA recently announced the launch of an interactive website called MyPeakExperience that allows users to post their own pictures and experiences of the region.
