Christmas markets are ever-growing in popularity here in the UK and the rest of Europe is no exception.
Just a ferry crossing away is the Dresden Christmas Market, which is generally believed to be the oldest of its kind in Germany.
It starts on November 24th and will carry on through until December 20th.
Known as Striezelmarkt in its native language, the market boasts an array of carven wooden gifts and handicrafts from neighbouring regions.
Food and drink will also be on offer, as will a range of entertainment to make sure the festive season gets off to a flying start.
Setting it apart from other similar events is its Christmas Candle Pyramid, which creates a magnificent centrepiece in the market square.
Other German Christmas markets include those in Stuttgart and Cologne, which are taking place on the same dates.
