Hard Shoulder Running Scheme to be extended

Plans to let drivers use the hard shoulder on busy stretches of motorways in England have been unveiled following a successful trial on the M42 near Birmingham. The scheme could be extended to other roads across England, including:
- M1: J15-17; J18-19; J24-25; J28-35a (excluding the J31-32 link); and J40-42
- M3: J2-4a and J11-14
- M4: J3-4; 5-8/9; J10-12; and J19-20
- M5: J4a-6 and J16-17
- M6: J2-4; J5-8W; J11-14; J15-19; and J21a-24
- M20: J3-5
- M23: J8-J10
- M27: J5-7; J8-9; and J10-11
- M60: J8-9; J10-12; J19-24; J24-25; and J27-J4
- M62: J10-12; J18-20; J25-28; and J29-30
- M56: From start-J2/3; J6-7.
No dates for extending this scheme in specific areas have yet been announced.
