Gotrans CL, Happisburgh, Norfolk

Situated just a mile from the dramatic beach at Happisburgh, Gotrans CL is a perfect base from which to make the most of all the outdoor pursuits on offer in this part of Norfolk.  The site is popular with cyclists and our winners specialise in a warm welcome, which results in many return visits.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank all Club Members who voted for us,” said Joyce Gotts.  “We have made so many nice friends over the years and look forward to welcoming them and new visitors to this lovely part of East Anglia in the future.”

“It is good to see this lovely CL honoured once again, following their previous victory in 2002,” explained Caravan Club Chairman, Bob Black MBE.  “We are pleased that their high standards and warm welcome are being rewarded here today.”

Stoneyways CL, Woodbridge, Suffolk Meadowcroft CL, Bungay, Suffolk

In second place was Stoneyways, in Woodbridge, Suffolk.

Roy and Hilda Griggs have operated this friendly and popular site for nearly twenty years and during that time have picked up no less than five national and four regional awards in this Caravan Club competition.

In a fantastic rural location surrounded by farmland, Stoneyways covers around two acres and includes a pond complete with tame ducks and a garden area with a variety of flowers and shrubs to attract wildlife.

The popularity of this award-winning site has resulted in many regular visitors who have become friends of the owners over the years.  Roy and Hilda Griggs commented, “We are so lucky to be in such a central location so visitors can use us as a base to explore the Suffolk coastline, as well as nearby Sutton Hoo - the Anglo Saxon royal burial site.”

Meadowcroft CL in Bungay, Suffolk was awarded third place.

John and Margaret Hupton have operated this lovely three acre garden site for nearly 35 years.  The site is just a short walk from the historic market town of Bungay, and is a haven for wildlife with 80 different varieties of trees and shrubs, and over 50 species of birds to spot.  It is a mecca for cyclists and walkers, with the proximity of the famous Bigod Way circular trail, and nearby cycle routes.

Margaret Hupton commented, “We are surprised and honoured to receive this award and would like to say how much pleasure running the CL has given us, meeting people from all walks of life, and from all parts of the UK.”
