I had really high hopes of this car and as a solo vehicle it’s probably wonderful; but there was something not right about the test car. Some drivers thought the twin-turbo diesel engine was down on power.
Later in the competition the Jag seemed to pull itself together but when I had it, getting away on the hills was a problem – added to which the electronically-operated parking brake doesn’t sit well with manual transmission.
I wasn’t the only one to comment on the car’s instability at speed. Caravanability judges commented on the narrow boot opening.
