Probably a bit too sporty to make a top-notch towcar, the 2.0 CRDi Sport has many of the earlier car’s virtues but it has trouble getting the extra power down on the road when there is a caravan hanging on the back end. You have to be careful on takeoff, especially on severe hills. Handling is good and the engine very willing, but you can forget top gear (6th) when towing.
For caravanning use, better to stick with the 1.6 engine and estate car bodywork. Noseweight of 75kg is more than acceptable and the car comes with reasonably comprehensive towing information in its handbook. Sits very level when hitched up.
