Kia obviously had high hopes of its cee’d as a top towcar, entering three different versions. None of them walked off with a trophy but don’t let that fool you: for quality, value and towing guts the cee’d is hard to beat and several of the judges found this SW 1.6 CRDi estate car preferable to the 2.0-litre models.
Tailgate design makes for easy loading of your caravanning gear (though big rear pillars don’t help three-quarter vision), and out on the track the driving judges were full of praise for the 1.6 SW’s peppy diesel engine and nicely-spaced gear ratios. A clean start on the hills and no problems with towing at 70mph-plus. A good load carrier, this cee’d also comes with excellent towing data in its handbook.
