Here’s a car that feels right, with a gutsy engine that has bags of torque and a six-speed gearbox that tempts you to make fast progress. But caught out by crosswinds, said one driver, the car felt nervous. Another said the Toledo took a long time to recover from high-speed instability. In calm conditions the outfit was very tractable, happy to roll along at 60mph in 4th, 5th or 6th gear.
Despite its high stance, the car didn’t do particularly well in swallowing our ‘typical caravanning luggage’.
