Slightly mixed views among the judges about the V50’s stability at high speed; I had no problem but one judge said it was a bit wobbly in crosswinds which, I must say, were very strong at the time.
The 2.0-litre diesel engine is a cracker (though not as good as Volvo’s D5) and the six-speed gearbox nice to use, though there’s not enough power to make too much use of 5th and 6th when towing in less-than-ideal conditions.
