1) What types of account are there?
There are three options:
The Peoples Account - For only £7 for 12 months you can literally sell 100's of items with free descriptions, and photo's too, for no extra charge.
The Service Account - Ideal for small businesses such as restaurants, attractions, painters, gardeners, decorators. Only £150 per year (ex vat) you really can't go wrong.
The Retail Account - This account is for retailers who wish to sell products on the site. For just £250 per year (ex vat) you can feature as many products as you like on an unlimited basis.
The Retail Plus Account - This account is for retailers with a large product range. The same as a Retail Account except all of your products are loaded on to the site for you. Excellent value at just £500 per year (ex vat).

2) Do I need to register with Online Trader to use the service?
You do not need to register to log in, because you can do this with your Caravan Club login details via The Caravan Club website, but you will need to register your details with Online Trader if you want to start trading.

3) How do I access Online Trader?
Once you have registered with The Caravan Club website and are logged in to it, you can access the Online Trader service via the menu on the left by clicking on ‘Club Shop’ then ‘Online Trader’.

4) Once I have registered with Online trader, why might I be told I am leaving a secure environment?
The payment section of Online Trader is a secure environment. The message that you receive is telling you that once you leave the payment section you will no longer be in a secure environment because there is no longer any risk to your personal financial details. This is common with many websites and should be of no concern to you at all.

5) We have a caravan to sell, can you tell us what it is worth?
Yes, The Club have a member only service that can assist you with determining the value of your outfit. Read more about our Valuation Service.

6) I have just joined Online Trader and was surprised to see my Caravan Club website password carried over and actually displayed on my Online Trader profile. Is this safe?
Online Trader is a Caravan Club service and all the personal data is sitting on a secure Caravan Club database and not a third party one. The Peoples Web does not have a copy of this database, as all communication is made through The Caravan Club.

7) I have created an ad recently, but now I can’t find it in the listings.
When you log in to Online Trader and can see the main page, at the bottom left of the page is a link called ‘my sale ads’ if you click this, you will see listed all your current ads, and you can click into them from here to check them.

8) How do I insert a picture into an ad?
If you want to insert a picture into an ad, this can be done when the ad is being created. You will be given the choice to add a photograph (maximum file size 700kb)and you need to click on the 'browse' button and select the appropriate picture file on your computer. (there may be a scroll down with the scroll bar to see this field).

9) I have something to sell, but I cant find a suitable category to place it in.
When you are creating a new ad and have navigated to a category screen where there are little ‘plus’ signs next to each category, you can click on one of these, and there is always an ‘Add new product’ option listed – this enables you to add a category of your own that will best fit your item for sale.

10) How do I search for something to buy?
There is a search facility in the top right of the screen and quick searches shown on the right hand side. You can search the entire site by advert title in the search box or quick on a quick search category and search only within it. The search results will be shown in two tiers allowing you to refine your results more easily. Search for any product or service from greenhouses to cars and Caravans and from consultants to plumbers and Caravan repairers. You can also look into other accounts to see what they have to sell. Search accounts by Christian name or by company name. i.e. Stuart or Marks & Spencer.

11) I only want to trade with Caravan Club members, how can I do this?
On the top right hand side of the page there is a filter that allows you to choose between all adverts and member-only adverts. Also, when you are browsing the categories for items to buy, or do a search for a specific item, you will be able to tell if the seller is a Caravan Club member because there will be a green box with the word ‘member’ in it next to that listing.

12) There are lots of web companies on the website, I just want to deal with a private seller, how do I do this?
This can be done through the search facility which is in the top right of the Online trader website. Click on the ‘search button’. This will expand the search function and allow you to enter details into the various fields. The first field is for inputting what you are looking for (e.g. Caravan), the drop down box under this is for stating whether what you have just typed in is a ‘product or service’ or an ‘account name’. You can then click on the map to select which parts of the country you want to search in. And finally, the last two drop down boxes let you specify what types of account you want to search – ‘people accounts’ are just for private sellers only, and you can also choose to include or exclude web companies in the final box.

13) I am worried that an ad I am looking at maybe a scam, or that my buyer is not genuine. What should I do?
Unfortunately these things do happen and it is impossible to stop all scammers. However, with a bit of common sense, you can avoid them. If an ad sounds too good to be true, it usually is and if the seller is making strange requests of you, then also be wary. A lot of scammers are from overseas, so their English may not be that good either, easy to spot when they email you. So, if you do think a seller is dodgy, don’t give them any personal details and report them to the Caravan Club.

14) Once I have found something I want to buy, how do I pay for it?
The ad details will have the seller’s contact details on it. You will need to contact the seller and arrange payment details with them.

15) I’ve made a mistake with my ad and I can’t progress. What am I doing wrong?
When you are creating your online ad, you will notice a large green area to the right of the box where you are inputting your information. This box will give you help through out the ad creation and if you do anything wrong, it will tell you how to correct it.
