The Caravan Club's Sites network contains a huge and valuable
wildlife resource by providing habitats for diverse species of
flora and fauna - some of which are endangered.

We take our stewardship of this land and its residents very
seriously and in 2002 embarked on a programme of wildlife audits on
Club Sites using professional ecologists (JUST ECOLOGY) - an
initiative which has been welcomed by staff and members alike as it
ties in with their own interests and concerns about the natural
world.
As The Club is keen to take the lead in developing a strategy
for enhancing wildlife and species diversity across the network, we
asked JUST ECOLOGY to produce a Corporate Biodiversity Action Plan
(CBAP).
The Caravan Club's CBAP sets objectives and actions for the
conservation of biodiversity across the Sites network along with
the management needed to achieve measurable targets. Also included
are ways of involving members, visitors and the local community and
communicating progress back to interested parties.

As part of the plan, 20 'features' (habitat type or flora/fauna
species) were selected on the basis of their prevalence across the
network, the ability of The Club to have a positive impact on them,
and to have a good range included.
