Description

Set in open countryside just outside York, York Beechwood Grange Caravan Club Site (formerly Beechwood Grange) is beautifully screened from the world with trees and hedges. The caravan site is ideal for exploring the historic city or for discovering Yorkshire's many varied attractions further afield. It is also a great location for families in search of plenty of space for children to play and yet within close range of both modern conveniences and the pleasant surrounding natural landscapes.

York Beechwood Grange Caravan Club Site (formerly Beechwood Grange) puts you within easy reach of local transport - Park 'n' Ride is available from Monks Cross, allowing you to visit a wide range of interesting locations. The medieval streets of York offer an excellent opportunity to soak up the local history: just some of the attractions to visit are the Minster, National Railway Museum and the fascinating Jorvik Viking Centre. Other places within a short distance from the caravan site and well worth the visit are Rievaulx Abbey, Ryedale's market towns, the famous Moors and of course the beauty of historic Bronte country. For a more leisurely outing, you can opt for a romantic cruise along the river Ouse.

Very Enjoyable Stay

A last minute change of plan took us to Beechwood Grange for three nights and we wren't disappointed. A lovely site with large pitches, many shielded with their own hedgerows and green areas, spotless toilets and showers, a large dog exercise area makes up for there being no walks directly from the site, meant that all in all we had a lovely break here and we will definately return again. The wardens were brilliant - a little banter goes a long way to making a break! Thanks!

Perfect spot

What a nice club site. Excellent position for both arriving and visiting York, nice easy access and very helpful wardens who made us feel welcome. Plenty of space on the pitches and our grass pitch had the sun in the evening, The site facilities were all very clean and well maintained and the sites position allows you to be in York City centre within about 10 minutes subject to traffic, or you can use the park and ride which is a few minutes away. This was our first visit to the site having used another clubs sites in the past but we will return again as this was far more convenient and easy to reach. Thank you

1st Caravan Trip to York

Liked this site very much, the entrance can easily be missed but as luck had it our friends had arrived the day before and warned us about it so we were ready and watched for the Local Traffic sign. Unfortunately I have to agree with the unsmiling unfriendly reception received on arrival, however the male wardens couldn't have been more helpful and pleasant. The site is very clean and tidy with good facilities and large pitches, Make sure you have a good strong hammer for knocking your steel pegs in as the ground is very hard but well worth the effort once settled. We used the Park and Ride from Monks Cross to visit York which couldn't have been easier and just a short drive from site Will be booking again very soon, stayed for 5 nights and would have been happy to stay for longer if had we been in a positon to.

Beechwood

As has already been said this site is usual caravan club standard, very clean and tidy. Very nice , once you are on and settled. Whatever you do make sure to pitch on the right colour peg, or you will be made to move! I did, and after a long hot journey, and being stuck in traffic I was not best pleased! I got different explanations as to why it is so important to use the right peg, but none made sense to me .Be warned, the entrance is directly off a very large very busy roundabout with multiple exits. The club is easily missed, but just go to the next roundabout and come back. It gets easier with practice! The Park and Ride into York is very good. As a motorhome I had to use Rawcliffe. The only difficulty is the grumpy drivers who absolutely refuse to let you out and cross the roundabout to get back to the site, and then hoot at you when you inch your way across. They seem to like roundabouts here! Thats all the bad news. York is great with so much to see. Well worth the effort.

Superb Alternative to Rowantree Park

Landed here by default as I had dared to arrive at Rowntree park 10 minutes early and following a brief discussion with the warden who asked that I go round the site and back out along the narrow lanes, go round the block and come back again, where they want all vans to leave by 11.15 to prevent vans meeting on the narrow approach lanes beggars belief. However Beechwod Grange is one that we had never consider but what a mistake that was, It is an extremely nice site, with large pitches, clean Toilet blocks, well stocked reception with likes of milk, papers to order and usual emergency items like toilet fluid. It has also to be said that the Wardens and assistants are 4 off the nicest and helpful people you could meet. The only drawback is that unlike Rowntree Park you cant just walk into Town, however a 3 minute car ride to Monks shopping area takes you to Park and Ride and for £2.60 return a 5 minute ride takes you right to the centre of York. The bus drivers are also very good telling you which of the stops are best for different Tourist sites. Would not think twice of revisiting this site again. Thanks Guys PS superb play area, sports field and what on a CC site must be one of the largest dog walk areas I've seen with plenty of dog waste bins emptied on a regular basis.

York Break

Just a word of warning the road to the site is easily missed, as previously mentioned, but you can go to next roundabout and turn back. The wardens were friendly and the site was spotless the usual high standard. We choose a pitch near to the dog walk and play area, not many pitches left, and will make sure we dont do that again. Although I like dogs not everyone wants people cutting across their pitch rather than staying on the path, it is plain rude and all dog owners should take note that you may love your dog but others dont. The site itself is in a great location for visiting York, we used the park and ride good value and no hassle. We stayed 2 nights but would visit again if in the area so long as we pitched away from dog walk. Would highly recommend much preferred this site to the other York one.

Lovely site - poor customer service experience

Lovely well maintained site. Unfriendly unsmiling reception from warden on duty on our arrival. Did not need to converse with them after check in completed though and no sign of them on our departure at 10.30 am so put key through letter box as reception all locked up. It cost nothing to smile and welcome people and makes a whole lot of difference to a holiday experience.

I find this so hard to believe, If there is one thing that happens in the office on arrival it is a greeting with a smile always, we pride our selves on this. On departure, on 2 days of the week the office is closed between 10.15 and 11.45 this is so that the toilets can be cleaned and we can be back in the office for the new arrivals of that day. We can only be in one place at a time , as i'm sure customers will realize when they leave there keys in the box on departure. P.S all customers are advised on arrival of available pitches and whether they are on a standard pitch or non awing pitch.
