Description

Salisbury Hillside Caravan Club Site (formerly Salisbury) is outstandingly set amidst rolling countryside, much of which is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This holiday getaway location is spread across several levels, giving you the choice of pitches with splendid views over the Hampshire countryside or those set in open woodland glades. The caravan park offers excellent outdoor expeditions - you can leisurely take in the scenery by walking the Test/Clarendon Way or bike the Downs along charming countryside cycle ways.

Interesting places to visit from Salisbury Hillside Caravan Club Site (formerly Salisbury) include the Broadlands at Romsey or one of the several lovely National Trust properties in the near vicinity. The area of Wiltshire itself is steeped in rich history and includes the World Heritage Site at Stonehenge. The caravan site is also a favourite stopover for a night or two whilst en-route to the Isle of Wight, the West Country or even France and Europe.

Salisbury Hillside Caravan Site

First time writing a review. Overall the site was well situated for our needs. We (my husband and I) have two dogs and so to have that great walk by the side of the site was just the job. We liked the woodland aspect and at the time of our visit, it was very peaceful. It is a site we could recommend to our friends.

Relax relax relax

Had fab 4day stay. Very welcoming clean site. Love the little pitches, rather than one flat field. We will be back.

Excellent Site

Very good welcome from wardens. Very clean site. All facilities immaculate. Pitches are very private and not in Regimented Lines. I would recommend this site unreservedly.

Keep it to yourself

This is our second trip to this site. Our stay this time was marred somewhat by the weather. The site is easily located a few miles north east of Salisbury. On entering the site there is a large grassed area with approximately 12-15 pitches, two of which are designated for the disabled. These are adjacent to the small toilet block on the northern edge. This is the only toilet block on site but I never found it crowded. The remaining pitches are within the wooded area further downhill. As usual there is a one way system around the site where there are chemical disposal points and the motor vehicle waste point near to the bottom of the site. Outside on the main road the bus stops by the site entrance and will take you to Salisbury or Andover. The bus frequency is roughly every two hours but do not run in the evenings or on Sundays. The park and ride facilities are good, plentiful and frequent. Plenty to see around the area depending on your interests. There are three supermarkets, Sainsburys in the city centre and the two others Waitrose and Tesco's on the outskirts. There is also a large retail park on the Southampton road to satisfy the shopaholics. Back at the site which is well maintained by the friendly wardens the reception stocks a few essentials and newspapers to order at the weekends. There is a footpath at the side of the site which will keep dog walkers and nature lovers happy. Not much going for the kids I'm afraid, but the more sedate amongst us will appreciate the peace.

Tranquility

We chose this site as a stop over on the way to Eastbourne Folk Festival and on the return home, Geoff & Anne, gave us a warm friendly welcome, The site is very peaceful, and was an excellent Start and Finish to our 15 day break way from home, there are plenty of places to see, and in the nearby village of Stockbridge there is a quiet cycle track along a disused railway track

Very helpful wardens

Attractive site of small bays set in trees. Quiet and peaceful. Our grandchildren loved the den in the wood. Wardens were brilliantly helpful when our grandson had a fit. We are very grateful to them. Great location for Thruxton races and Stonehenge.etc. A site to go back to. Main disappointment was there is no pub/food within easy walking distance of site.

Peace and quiet

Obviously the weather makes a difference and it was a beautiful weekend but we found the site one of the most peaceful and well laid out sites we have visited. The pitches are spacious and, important to us as motor homers, very level and they are arranged so that maximum privacy is achieved. Friendly wardens who keep everything shipshape. Although adjacent to very busy roads the landscape is such that traffic noise was almost non existent. There is an abundant bird population and wild flowers were obviously encouraged throughout the site. Well done Caravan Club.
