member Lovinglife, one green star [Online] Posted 25 October 2012 by Lovinglife Quote | Report I have a new question about long term travel. We are considering the use of a mail forwarding/scanning service, such as poboxes.com, ukpostbox.com or simplemailbox.co.uk. Does anyone have experience and information to share about these services. We are relying on what we find on the internet right now. Post liked!
member JohnH1947, three green stars [Online] Posted 25 October 2012 by JohnH1947 Quote | Report Hi Pete ........ We are aiming at Cabo de Gata for the winter - this corner of Spain is the driest in Europe ........ Many Brits and Germans winter there so it must be better than putting up with a north-European winter. All the best John Hi John. I visited Almeria and the Cabo de Gata National Park in September 2011, but without my MH that time. It's a beautiful area but a bit desolate. The thought of spending winter without frost and snow is very enticing but how do people occupy their time for 2+ months ? Write your comments here... Hi Well, the only answer I can give to that is how do you occupy your time at home? People who don't have motorhomes sometimes think we are "trapped" in a 23 foot long box but we are no more trapped than anyone sitting in their 23 foot long living room. We do what anybody else would do; we go to the beach, we explore the mountains, we go to the theatre, we go to the local flamenco club, we go to the tapas bars with friends, we play boules, we play tennis, we go to see Almeria football club play badly, we read books on our kindles, we have people round for dinner, we listen to radio 4 (and occassionally watch tv if there is anything decent on), we have internet connection, we plan our future trips, we have friends and family come out to visit us, we go to parties - and in Jenny's case she knits! There's a lot more besides but you get the picture. If I was stuck in England in the winter my range of options would actually be less, not more (unless you're into gardening, which I am not). believe me, if you do it, you'll end up wondering where the time went. Unfortunately I'm not in a position to "lock up and leave" yet but your lifestyle seems very comfortable and is something I shall try to emmulate as soon as I can. Thanks for taking the time to reply. Enjoy the sun - it's about to drop to nearly freezing here over the weekend. Post liked!

member Lovinglife, one green star [Online] Posted 25 October 2012 by Lovinglife Quote | Report Thank you, Pete. I have used post restante in various locations and it works well, as does overseas mail forwarding by the post office. But we are extremely spontaneous these days so my plan is to have a means of knowing what is in our post and selecting which items need scanning to us. Fortunately, most of our mail is already electronic. There's just the odd, unexpected item that we need to access. Family members are not available to do it for us this winter (also headed for the sun), hence our consideration of a company that charges £12.50 per month to receive, sort and communicate the contents. So far, I have not found any reviews of said companies. Thanks for your input. Rosie Post liked!
