HI there.may I ask why the CC Site grid Ref from the continental touring final directions book are not to accurate, when compared with the camping cheque supplyed Site grid Ref''s,which leave one at each site office. Could you plese reveiw this. The CC grid ref are also in a different format and are not accurate.I would have thought it would be in the memberships interest to adopt camping cheques ref's,it would be preferable to arrive at the site office rather than somewher out on the road.I found this detail out whilst touring this year in France and compared both when coming across this difference.Wink

Hi Snatchy, thanks for the feedback, is there a particular site or sites that are wrong so can let the team who look after this know so they can resolve for the future? Any information much appreciated. Natasha

On holiday recently in France, spoke to a couple from Belgium who told me that their caravan was always kept in storage, unfortunalty the storage had a fire, and their caravan was burnt out. Their insurance company would only pay a third of the value of the caravan, and the people who owned the storage wouldn't pay out any compensation. I found this disturbing. Is this common practice? If so why pay fort he storage?. My motorhome is stored at home, but have friends who use storage.

Hello IreneN

We have referred this matter to our Head of Insurance Services and post her reply below:

'Difficult to answer this one as there could be so many factors involved here; the storage contract, the insurance contract, the storage owner’s liability at Law and even the cause of the fire.  All we can say is that the Club’s Caravan Insurance policy does not restrict indemnity for fire to a fixed percentage. If the caravan is deemed a total loss as a result of fire, the claim will be dealt with and the policyholder will receive indemnity commensurate with the value of the caravan or the maximum payable where underinsurance exists.  Those keeping their property in a storage facility should check that they are aware and accept the terms and conditions of the storage contract.  It is not unusual for storage facilities to exclude liability for events outside of their direct control and the expectation is that the user of the facility will have insurance arrangements which will cover this scenario.  Always best to check that both the Insurance and Storage contract terms meet your needs and expectation'.

Hope this helps.     Regards  Jean

Natasha Hi, the two sites inquestion are Domaine Du Logis cc coordinates 48.38090   -1.83290   Camping cheque these used N48'22'56.1"   W001.50'05." Direct to site office  The other Camping Des Iles  this left you up the road at their site opposite no problem for me as I have been before but for strangers a problem,as the site office is at the site back down the road. The CC is not the same format a confusion, would it not be worth while using the same format as camping cheque to express Northings and Westings it would be very helpfull .Its  one of three formats in the Garmin formats.
