12 v TV

A battery is one of the most stabilised power supplies availably, it may degrade as power is taken but unlike transformers will not produce a spike or surge, I don't know what is in the box but in my opinion it's a waste of money. The maximum voltage you can achieve from the van battery even on EHU power is 13.8 volts, Most TVs have a chip regulator supplying a constant 12v or 10v from the 240v/ 12v transformer and rectifier circuit, the chip regulator normally can take in 18v and some 30v with the o/p limited 10 or12v.

Same as above but £10 less http://www.amperorassociates.co.uk/c-DC_power_supplies/PowerS-12V_Stabiliser_S1U.html

Write your comments here...Thanks Boff, that article seems to explain the warning which came with my TV better than my attempt.

Got to say I haven't got one myself I just plug my cheap tv into the 12v socket.  I'm not sure how real the risk is.  I was just pointing out a cheaper and I think identical alternative if you want to go down that route.

Write your comments here...let me know how it goes Boff, often thought about taking the risk but the warning which came with the TV put me off. How long you already been doing this? No probs?

Our not-so-cheap 12 volt telly/DVDplayer has always been used on 12 volts since we bought it around 5 years ago with no problem at all, ....... no fancy voltage regulators used. ;-)
