ABI: Brits back action on dishonest motorists

Drivers who use their mobile phones behind the wheel create the biggest problems on the country's roads, a poll has found.
Conducted by YouGov on behalf of the Association of British Insurers (ABI), it found that 72 per cent of people think mobile phone users are the most likely to cause accidents.
It also discovered that drivers support tougher action on those who withhold information in order to gain cheaper car insurance premiums.
"We rely on people being honest, but those who conceal motoring offences not only push up the cost of insurance for everyone, but also run the risk of having any claim rejected," said the ABI's director of general insurance and health Nick Starling.
He added that the insurance industry is currently in discussions with the government to see how it can clamp down on the number of dishonest claims made by motorists.
Drivers are reminded that it will soon become an offence to own a vehicle which is not insured, even if it is not in use.
