Bad weather poses issues for Scottish motorists

With snow expected to sweep parts of Scotland later this week, motorists will need to ensure they are well prepared to avoid the need for breakdown assistance.
There are various steps that can be taken to ensure safe driving in snow, such as making sure there is a full tank of petrol to avoid running short, Europcar explained.
Journeys will likely take a while longer in the snow, so drivers must ensure they leave enough time to reach their destination.
Should a car skid in snowy or icy conditions, then motorists are urged to avoid hitting the brakes, but to instead ease back on the accelerator and direct the vehicle in the direction of the skid.
"So far this winter, UK motorists have had it relatively easy with mild temperatures and only small pockets of bad weather," commented Ken McCall, managing director of the Europcar UK Group.
