Look to the stars at Galloway Dark Sky Park

Families in search of a day out with a difference should make
their way to Galloway Dark Sky Park, where plenty of stargazing
activities are planned.
The observing season typically runs from October to April, so
there are still a few months to marvel at the night sky.
On 23 January at 19:00 GMT, Stargazing for Beginners is being held
at the Forestry Commission site, during which staff will give an
informative tour of the park.
For Valentine's Day with a difference, a Starlight Serenade is
planned at the Kirroughtree visitor centre on 14 February between
19:00 and 20:00.
During this event, Forestry Commission staff will give an
introduction to the only Dark Sky Park in the whole of the
UK.
Lucy Hadley, recreation ranger with the Commission's Galloway
team, said: "Come into the forest where there's no light pollution
and the night sky is really opened up to reveal things that you
can't normally see."
