Walk your way to health and happiness

Too often we are inundated with far too much information about how to be healthy, from what the new fitness craze is, to what should be removed from our diet.
However, as with most things in life, a simple approach is best. One of the easiest ways to lead a healthier lifestyle is simply to walk more. It is the perfect exercise because it doesn't need expensive kit or a pricey gym membership and you can do it almost anywhere.
Plus, according to British walking charity the Ramblers, regular walks can boost your mood, reveal hidden gems in your local area and even help you to maintain a healthy weight.
Studies show that spending time in the outdoors is uplifting, because the combination of fresh air and natural light boosts levels of vitamin D and serotonin, the 'happy hormone'. Fortunately, many of our caravan sites are located close to attractive walking trails.
To get walking, start small. Find a local group, such as a Ramblers group, to join as this will make the whole experience more fun and sociable.
Ask a friend who walks to help you choose any kit you might need, such as a good pair of boots or trail shoes.
