Tee off with the Caravan Club

Published: 28 June 2012

There's nothing quite like a game of golf on a sunny day, and with summer (hopefully) on its way, you might like to try some new courses.

Fortunately, a great many Caravan Club sites cater very well for golfing enthusiasts and offer excellent facilities just a short distance from the park itself.

One of the best locations is the Rutland Caravan and Camping Site, a family-run holiday destination set in a lovely rural area.

If you love golf, you'll be spoilt for choice here thanks to the close proximity of Greetham Valley, one of Rutland's finest clubs. The attraction boasts two 18-hole courses, a nine-hole par-three course, driving range, club house and a top-quality Pro Shop.

Plus, if you decide to diversify and try a few other activities, the Rutland site facilities include tennis and badminton courts, football and cricket areas and a bowling green.

At nearby Rutland Water you can try your hand at sailing, cycling, fishing and rock climbing, making this particular Club site well-suited to active holidaymakers.

Alderstead Heath Caravan Club Site is another excellent option if you're number one priority is to be well-placed for some golfing, as there are a number of top-notch courses nearby.

If you'd like to combine your hobby with a trip to the lovely landscape of Wales, then look no further than Pembrey Country Park Caravan Club Site in Carmarthenshire. The superb Machynys Peninsula Gold and Country Club is just a few miles away and should definitely be a must-see on anygolfing enthusiasts' itinerary.

The £3.5 million course layout is truly stunning and Golf Monthly magazine reported being "blown away by its splendour".

Plus, the caravan site itself is a treat to visit thanks to its top-quality facilities, natural beauty and close proximity to the cycling routes and walking trails.

Other attractions on offer nearby include an equestrian centre, a dry-ski slope and a seven-mile stretch of sandy beach that is perfect for relaxing after a long day on the course.
