One of the main reasons why people take caravan holidays abroad is to put their feet up, and there is no more laid-back country than the Netherlands.

The Dutch are famous for their relaxed attitude to life and their friendliness, which makes visiting cities like Amsterdam a pleasure.

The Netherlands is known for its windmills, tulips, clogs and dykes, while its countryside is lush, green and perfect for touring around.

As for the country's capital city, Amsterdam is a place of fantastic culture and fine architecture. There are plenty of museums to visit, such as one detailing the life and times of Anne Frank, and football fans could catch European giants Ajax in action.

You can while the evenings away in one of the city's trendy bars, and the nightlife is as good as anywhere in Europe.

To relax during the day, you could take a barge trip on one of the country's many stunning 17th century canals.
