Schonbrunn, Vienna, Austria
Snow capped mountains, expansive
lakes, green valleys and lush forests - Austria's scenery really is
a feast for the eyes. This country lies, landlocked, amongst an
array of European countries. Germany and the Czech Republic lie to
the north, Slovakia and Hungary are to the east, Slovenia and Italy
are the southern neighbours and Switzerland and Liechtenstein are
to the west. The varied landscapes include skiing and snowboarding
venues, and those who love outdoor pursuits will definitely be at
home here.
The capital, Vienna, is famed for
music, theatre and fine arts. The imperial treasury or
Schatzkammer, held at a museum in the Hofburg Palace, is well worth
a visit. There are an abundance of palaces, such as the Baroque
Belvedere Palace, in Vienna so history fans will love the city.
Other cities include stunning Innsbruck, set amongst mountains,
which is home to the Alpine Zoo where you can see more than 2000
animals. And after all that activity, the perfect way to end the
day is with some hearty cuisine and local beer.
