Description

Atmosphere

- Situated just outside Le Bacarés and close to 5 miles of sandy beaches

- Located on a busy main road, however, traffic noise is light on most pitches

- An extremely busy site in high season which organises daytime and evening entertainment which can be noisy

- Outside fitness centre and 2 hectare games field for all the family

- Helpful reception staff will offer advice on local attractions

- Well appointed café overlooking the lovely pool area

- A small but active site suited to families who like to be busy!

Pitches EL Ap. 90m2. Flat, grassy, sandy pitches. Separated by hedges and flowering shrubs.

 Activities Children's club, Aqua aerobics, Sports Tournaments, Excursions, Live music, Karaoke, Cabaret.

 Around & about Carcassonne, Perpignan, Barcelona, Pyrénées, Cathar Castles, Watersports, Horseriding, Fishing, Golf.

Site rules & policies

There is a 120 € deposit to pay upon arrival (returned upon departure) for the barrier key. A free security bracelet must be worn by everyone in order to use the pool area. Charcoal BBQs not permitted. Maximum 1 dog per pitch. For dog restrictions see page 175. Latest arrival: 19.00. Earliest departure: 08.00.

Directions

7 miles south-east of Salses. The site lies at the southern end of Le Barcarès. From N9, Leucate exit, follow D627. Ignore signs for Le Barcarès and Port Barcarès. Leave on exit signed for Canet (D81) exit 9. At intersection with D90, St Laurent la Salonque, take D90 and go under D81. Camping California is the 2nd campsite on left.

OK for a stop over or short visit

We stayed here for three nights in September 2012 whilst travelling further South. The season was coming to an end for the camp site and therefore was not very busy, however the reception staff were very helpful and both young ladies we dealt with could speak good English. The facilities were spotless during our time there and could not be faulted. The only down side to it for us is that it is a ten minute walk to the beach and a little further into the small town, however, the local market, which we stumbled upon was worth a visit.
