Why stay here ...

Our family run adults only CL site offers exceptional caravanning and coarse fishing in the unique and historic Fens for an unforgettable holiday experience. So if you are looking for a quiet and peaceful site with fantastic fishing and a great base to explore Cambridgeshire and East Anglia then you have come to the right place!

Open between March and November, enthusiastic anglers will find fishing for all levels; ramblers will enjoy the flat, expansive Fenland countryside and those who just want to sit back and relax can do so in beautiful and natural surroundings thanks to our adult only policy, and with the fact that we are not near any major roads or under any flight paths.

Our Club Certificated Location adults only five berth site was opened in March 2005. The site is set between the two fishing lakes on three quarters of an acre of flat landscaped land, three sides are sheltered by hedgerows and a small wood. The site commands far reaching views over the open Fenland with its beautiful sunsets, the wood is proving to be very popular for walking and exploring.

The certificated location has excellent facilities including a toilet and hot shower. The site is equipped with individual electric 16 amp hook ups (included in the price), water and waste disposal point."

There are three colour coded country walks, ranging from a 45 minute stroll to an hour and a half hike - all starting and finishing on site, excellent for dog walking. We also have a full size boule court, rules and equipment provided.

There is a discount on the fishing day tickets for CL residents.

Lovely visit despite poor weather and very unfair reviews

Fields End Water CL and Fishery
I feel I need to address some of the adverse reviews that this site has received recently. We have just returned from a very windy weekend with our dog. We had a very friendly welcome and were allocated a pitch (24) on the main park. The campsite is on the fens and is therefore "in the middle of nowhere", if you had done your homework beforehand, you would know this, it makes for a very peaceful stay. "Not dog friendly..."-are you kidding, my dog and I walked through the woods, down beside one lake, onto a public footpath, back towards reception onto the dogs off the lead field, which had an activities trail and not a single dog poo in sight, carried on past reception, on towards the main lake and all the way around. What could be more dog friendly? We passed the cafe one evening and were attracted by the lovely smells and discovered meals being cooked for delivery to people's pitches-wow, that's service for you! As for dog mess on pitches, we noticed some duck poo, as there were delightful ducks waddling freely around. Potholes? What potholes.....? You do have to use your car to get around but there are many pleasant towns to visit in the area. Our only negative comment would be the waste pipe on our pitch has to flow uphill to drain, apart from that, the site is immaculate and we would definitely return if we were in the area again.

Lovely short break but with proviso's

Fields End Water CL and Fishery
We have just returned from Fields End Water where we had a lovely 4 day break. The site is clean and tidy and, as mentioned by other reviewers, quite secluded. Be warned - the track leading to the CL site has a tricky turn necessitating careful negotiation when towing a caravan and there isn't a lot of room between the hedging on the approach to the field entrance. The CL site is located behind the main camping site and is basically a field with 6 markers/electric hook ups and one tap. There is a building in the car park between the field and the smaller of the fishing lakes (the Pool) which houses toilets and (I think) showers. Outside is the chemical toilet disposal facility and fresh water taps, however, because of Covid-19 restrictions the building was not open. There was also a large bin located at the back of the building for rubbish, however, we didn't find it until the last day of our break, in the meantime we were taking our rubbish to the bin area on the main site. There are plenty of dog bins around the main site but the nearest one to the CL site was located on a public footpath that runs parallel to the smaller fishing lake. I also noticed that the CL site didn't have a fire point although the main site has several. I'm guessing that there isn't a statutory requirement but think there should have been one. It may be a good idea to check when the cafe is likely to be open as it was unexpectedly closed on Thursday and Friday this week. The reception area is well laid-out and complies with Covid-19 prevention advice. There are plenty of hand gel points around the main site. The site is very dog friendly. A bowl of water was supplied on the steps to the reception, however, there were no hooks to tie dogs up near reception. When visiting the shop I looped my dog's lead through the fencing on the decking and hoped it was acceptable to do so. Previous reviews have mentioned that the staff were welcoming and friendly but others were not so impressed with the reception they received. We found that the friendliness of the staff was dependent on who was on duty. During our stay we found a couple of members of staff were quite off-hand, however, others were friendly and informative. All-in-all we enjoyed our break, my partner enjoyed the fishing, I enjoyed the walks, however, our stay was slightly marred by some of our CL neighbours playing music/radio loudly enough for us to hear it in our caravan (starting at 7am!) This aside, the CL site left us with a feeling of being 'poor relations' in comparison to those enjoying what seemed to be enhanced facilities offered on the main site.

Quiet, frendly and we will be back !

Fields End Water CL and Fishery
Just outside the village of Doddington is this quiet and peaceful adults only CL site which we thought was excellent. We booked last minute and although the toilet / shower faccilities were not open (due to C19) this did not spoil our stay. We found the wardens / management friendly and helpfull despite being extra busy at this difficult time. We felt that all the necessary safety precautions were kept to by both site staff and visitors. Whilst its true the majority of people go for the fishing, we also enjoyed cycling in the area and walks too. Both lakes are well stocked and maintained. Fishing was very enjoyable and the bailifs do check your fishing gear, inc the requirement to use a landing net and decent mat to unhook the fish. Colin and Sandra at the Cafe also do a great job cooking for people fishing and relaxing. I can highly recommend the Big Boy breakfast ! Overall we were very impressed with the site and can see why it is very busy. We had six nights on the CL grass area and had a great time. We will be back at some point.

Disappointing visit.

Fields End Water CL and Fishery
If you are not a fisherman and do not have the use of a car (ie. in a motorhome) then I would avoid this site. It is very clean and tidy and facilities are good but the shop is very poor for anything you may run out of but caters extremely well for fishing requirements. The map which they provide for the walks needs reviewing as a great deal is not usable and the map directions are not very good. When we mentioned this at the office we were made to feel stupid as they say no one else has trouble following the map and the sty which we could not find off the main road, was supposed to be only 50yds along the road so we were told. When we left the site we made a point of looking for the sty and found it when almost in the village which was a great deal further than 50yds. We also spoke to a couple of other visitors who also could not follow the map so we were not alone in thinking that the map needs reviewing. We will not be visiting the site again.

Peace and Quiet

Fields End Water CL and Fishery
Our first visit here - but will not be our last. Due to family circumstances we had to change our dates and the owners were very helpful and got us in a week earlier even though they were busy, so we did not need to cancel. Lovely level pitch on the Paddock. After a busy week at another site - this was a great way to really relax the pools and woods were lovely to go round and as a amateur bird watcher ‘ lost’ a few hours. Maps of walks were provided but we on our own and managed a 12 mile round trip to the Market Town of March. The facilities were lovely and clean and enjoyed listening to the radio being piped through whilst taking a shower (hope no-one heard me singing) We left a day early due to the adverse weather - but will definitely be going back to explore a little and relax a lot.
