Not really a caravan site

Upon arrival could not find where to go as there were no signs and lots of buildings, but we were helped by a fellow caravanner. Later the owner arrived and he confirmed we were to pitch on the road outside the self catering cottages, which is not very nice for the occupants, waking up to a view of a caravan. The site is not well arranged There is an area of grass, which is very sloping, that is possibly used for caravans but doesn't look very useful due to the slope. The EHU point is in the centre of this area, so if caravans were to be on this grass there would be a lot of wires to cross. There was also a smell of smoke from a log burner on occasions which wasn't nice. To sum up, the self catering cottages appear the main part of this site and the caravan site feels a little like an afterthought. It needs some reorganising and pitches placing and levelling before it can be used properly. Separate toilet and shower available.

Beautiful setting

We stayed here for 5 nights in July, the gardens, lake and facilities are fantastic! We took a stroll around the lake every evening. We found staying here with out dog perfect because there is a field to dog walk and the road isn't that close so any noise didn't affect us. We also didn't feel the garden was very sloped, we have put up the caravan on much steeper inclines. We felt as though we were staying on a grand estate with it's long driveway, the people who own it are very lucky! There is a local pub in Lanlivery which is gorgeous and has a good range of food, you can walk there from the site. All the main areas of interest are nearby and we will definitely return one day.

Fine for one night

We stayed here for one night when touring around. It was a bit strange to be parked right outside the holiday cottages, on their entrance road. If you wanted to be on the grass (but it was wet while we were there) you could well have difficulty getting level, as 'part sloping' is a bit of an understatement! it was useful to have the loo, but the shower was locked while we were there.

Depends what you want!

Very nice site - clean, well kept. We found the road noise a bit intrusive - and although there are facilities within a mile you would take your life in your hands walking to them as there is no verge on the road. Depends on what you are looking for. Not the greatest for a dog owner - but as a base to do the area it is excellent.

Five nights here in early October.

This C.L. is well signed from the main road but care needs to be taken when leaving as the main road is fast and the road dips to the right slightly obscuring the view. The site is well kept and the facilities are of a good standard for a C.L. We never located the chemical disposal point and a few more signs around the site would be helpful. The owners are pleasant and helpful and gave us a very comprehensive local info.pack. The squirrels provide lots of entertainment and the site is very convenient for the many attractions and lovely coastal villages in the area. The road is a bit noisy in the day and at peak times but o.k.through the night. Overall a very pleasant stay.
