Why stay here ...

The site is located on the Staffordshire/Derbyshire border, a convenient location for all that the area has to offer.

The site consists of a lawned 2.5 acre field where there are 5 spacious grass pitches. All of the pitches have electric hook up and offer good room for awnings.

Television and Telephone signal are both good.

A bridal path runs alongside the site and is easily accessed. This is perfect for walking and cycling. Mayfield itself has lots of lovely walks which offer stunning views. Lots of public footpaths can be picked up just a short stroll from us here at Slack Lane.

There is a bus stop at the top of the lane which is about 200m from site. Regular buses run from here to the lovely market town of Ashbourne (3 miles away), also to the city of Derby and the Staffordshire town of Uttoxeter.

There is a small convenience store situated just half a mile from our site and the nearest pub is a mere quarter of a mile away.

Local Attractions include:

  • Dovedale with the picturesque stepping stones & Ilam - 5 miles away
  • Tissington Trail - 3 miles to the start of it

Welcoming owners, very spacious, convenient for Ashbourne and cycling routes

We had clear directions in advance of how to get to the site, and were given a warm welcome from Ruby once arrived. The site is very spacious and well kept including regular mowing. It is still under development, with a newly laid gravel drive down the centre. The site is only two miles from Ashbourne and the start of the Tissington trail. I found good areas for cycling too to the east of the site through Clifton and beyond. The location is very peaceful, though near the main road through Mayfield into Ashbourne.

Midweek break

What a fantastic site this is. Easy to find, in lovely surroundings, well mown grass, albeit on a slight slope, but after the amount of rain lately this means it drains well. Theres plenty of room. The owners a lovely and welcoming sorting us out with a map of Ashbourne and bus times to get there. Buses stop right at the end of the lane, a 200yd walk. There`s no traffic noise just birds singing. Ashbourne is a lovely place to visit and explore, good shops including quite a few antique shops. We would definately stay here again in the future. But for a week next time!

Lovely site

Second visit to this site which is a lovely peaceful site. There are plenty of beautiful walks from the site. We will definitely be visiting this site again. As with the previous owner Mrs Mellors, the new owners Ruby and Jason were extremely welcoming and helpful. Would highly recommend.
