Not as good as expected

Rather a small pitch site for five vans but as we mainly had the place to ourselves it was ok. We do wish we had taken notice of a previous review which mentioned the barking dogs! The barking/yapping noises came from several neighbouring properties and at times were unbearable. We do realise that the site owners have no control over this. The waste disposal facility i.e. manhole is extremely primitive and nasty to use. We booked this site as it is supposed to be an adults only CL so were rather surprised to note that for one evening a a family arrived with two children. A site is either an Adults Only site or not! For future visitors : As this CL is only a small part of an ongoing redevelopment and caravan storage business I can only suggest that this site be used for one or two nights. £17 pounds per night is too much to pay for a pitch here.

Charming site in a unique setting

Beautiful location. A site in process of being developed into something exceptional. Family run with a vision for an amazing project when completed. Warm and welcoming. Would definitely return to this site again.

Pleasant few days

Just spent a pleasant few days at this CL in a good location for visiting some of the highlights Derbyshire has to offer. It has it's own history as other reviewers have detailed. Owners very personable and chatty. Unfortunately we had to cut short our stay but owners very understanding. Well maintained and relatively level grassed area for pitches but have to park your car in a different area as the pitching area isn't the largest. Only one real criticism and that's the nightly rate - at £17(with hook-up) it's the most expensive CL we've stayed at and whilst very pleasant, we've visited CLs with much more to offer for less cost.

Charming and very unusual site

Just returned from 7 night stay at Sutton Hall Gardens. Beautiful setting in large old walled garden which was the kitchen garden for Sutton Hall, now derelict across the road. (Worth a visit) Very secure gated site with passcode. Greeted on arrival by Mrs Harrison, who showed us around. Lawned area was very well-maintained and level, overlooking lovely shrubs and flower-beds, diligently tended daily by the owner. Although the site is adult-only and no dogs, some of the neighbouring properties over the wall have dogs which seem to bark persistently, which for us rather spoilt the tranquillity of the site. This is obviously not Mrs Harrison's fault, and it is a shame as she is rightly proud of her CL.

Absolutely fabulous

We arrived at Sutton Hall Gardens to a lovely warm welcome from Mrs Harrison, who proceeded to show us all around the site. We could'nt believe how lovely the gardens were. The peace and tranquility was amazing and welcome. Her flowers were so beautiful and she was such a lovely person. We wil most certainly be going back again.....infact neither of us wanted to leave. An absolute Gem of a site.....best ever Thank you Mrs H...you/re lovely xx
