Matlock Certificated Locations

The town of Matlock is situated in Derbyshire, right at the edge of the Peak District and just under ten miles from Chesterfield.

A former spa town, it lies in dramatic limestone country on the River Derwent and incorporates Matlock Bath in the gorge to the south, which has all the main tourist attractions you're likely to want to head to.

The main draw is the Heights of Abraham, a dizzyingly high cliff that you can catch a cable car to the top of. Once there, you can check out the show caves of Rutland Cavern and Great Masson Mine.

For keen walkers, there's also the limestone crag of High Tor that towers over the town and has a park on top. Stand on Giddy Ledge for fantastic views - if you have the stomach for it.

Back on solid ground, don't miss the Victorian Grand Pavilion that houses the Peak District Lead Mining Museum and Temple Mine; Masson Mills - now a shopping village and textile museum - Matlock Farm Park for the kids; and Identity Leather Craft for workshops (pre-booking essential).

Matlock has a great range of shops and eateries, including many fish and chip shops, so you're sure to have a good time in this popular tourist honeypot.
