Why stay here ...

Bijou jewel in the crown that is East Devon! Owned by Mark and Linda Thomson, Club members of many years standing.

Huntisbeare is quiet and peaceful on the water shed of the River Exe and Otter. We offer solitude if you wish it or the opportunity to be involved in the garden and polytunnel.

We are idealy placed between Exeter, Sidmouth, Honiton and Ottery St Mary. Many National Trust properties are within easy driving distance, as are golf courses, riding stables and Westpoint Exhibition and Showground. Being on the top of a hill, there are extensive views to enjoy and is on a very popular cycle route (2 long descents to choose from).

We are poachers turned game leaders and it has long been our ambition to own and run a Club CL. We toured extensively in our own motorhome for many years and have stayed on many CL’s. Now we have achieved our goal, our aim is to provide excellence for our fellow members. Our services are basic 5 x electric 16 AMP hook ups, a porta loo and dish washing facilities. We prefer not to have children staying as it is not suitable for them as there is a large unfenced pond but given notice and explaining our difficulties, we will accept them with certain provisos.

Lindi and I are RSPB members and our 5 acre property is home to many diverse species. Everything I do is done with birds, reptiles and insects in mind, providing a well-balanced habitat for creatures, but principally our birds.

We have a small flock of hens so usually have eggs for sale. Lindi will make bread and scones to order and we offer Devon Cream teas upon request. There is a small farm shop right next to our entry gate and they offer seasonal produce at very competitive prices. Please tell them you are staying on our CL.

Stay for a week or just an overnight stay, whatever your reason you will be looked after and made welcome.

Our site fees are £15 per unit/pn. No charge for awnings, extra people or dogs. Dogs are very welcome at Huntisbeare but must be under control at all times.

We offer three hard standings, one grass and one all-weather pitch. All pitches are spacious and well-spaced so offer privacy. There is a suggestion box for your input and all ideas will be taken on-board. This is the end of the beginning and I have much to do to achieve a harmonious environment. However, that is our ultimate goal and we are now well on the way of achieving it. We have only been open as a CL for a while, but have already has some positive feedback from those who have found us. Our sincere thanks to them!

So if you enjoy walking or cycling, golf or fishing, riding or bird watching, plus many other activities, then Huntisbeare CL is the place for you. Click on our own Website link to enjoy additional special offers and discounts for regular campers.

Thank you for reading this far and all that remains is to be welcomed here in person!

Owners are attentive and care about this site.

Although the summer and autumn was wet the hard standing was good. The owners were very welcoming and offered help if needed. We stayed during a very windy time, yet the awning stayed where it should be! There was a fair amount of road noise in the morning, from the road which runs immediately behind and above the caravan. In the evening there was a constant sound of traffic from below the site, where the main roads run. Aircraft from the nearby airport, we're also noticeable. But maybe we noticed these noises because we live in a quieter rural area ourselves. The return to the main road needs a cautious but speedy turn with fingers crossed that nothing is coming around the blind corner. But all in all, it is a very well run and friendly location.

Gem of a site

We have been staying on this little site ever since we stumbled upon it a couple of years ago. It is a lovely peaceful site well situated for the coast and moor. Mark and Linda are always very welcoming to us and our two dogs. We have watched this site develop with Mark’s hard work and dedication and it continues to do so. We have stayed many times this year and look for reward to returning early in the New Year.10/11/11 to 12/11/11.

Good CL, Welcoming, Clean, Quiet, in Good Location

Spent six nights at Huntisbeare 21st - 27th August 2017 First day was wrecked by our 12v system going down tho' full mains was ok. Mark and Linda were both very helpful and after a new battery we were fine. The site is mostly gravel, level and each hard standing has electricity and own water supply, toilets are clean and very well maintained and the fresh eggs, fruit and Linda's pickle cum chutney were delicious. The site is set back from the farm area, quiet and an easy drive to local shops as well as Exeter and Sidmouth. All in all an ideal location if you want good facilities, a warm welcome and peace and quiet. We will come again. Our thanks to Linda and Mark.
