View and BookPaul and Donna would like to welcome you to Holme Farm CL, which is set in the heart of Devon's magnificent Ruby Country.
We are easy to reach, only thirty minutes off the A30.
We offer a one acre site with large grass pitches, some slope slightly and all have beautiful scenic views of Devon's unspoilt countryside.
A haven for wildlife with sightings of Roe deer, Buzzards, Barn Owls and even Dippers. It is a bird lover's paradise and at night you can stargaze on beautiful clear non light polluted skies.
We are a small holding with Shetland ponies, sheep, chickens and ducks and not forgetting our Springer Spaniel. The ponies enjoy being groomed and walked. Then there is Pat, the very friendly sheep who loves a carrot or two! We do welcome well behaved friendly dogs but do ask that they are kept on a lead while on site due to livestock in adjacent fields.
Site facilities include drinking water, grey and chemical waste, recycling and battery charging. There is also excellent TV reception.
We also sell free range eggs from our chickens and ducks, home grown vegetables, jams and chutneys (subject to availability).
Holme Farm is well situated for both Devon and Cornwall with Bude only fifteen miles away offering miles of sandy beaches, cliff walks, canal walks, local shops, pubs and restaurants. There is also horse riding, fishing, golf, archery and for the more adventurous Alpaca walking.
Our local village store is in Shebbear, a short drive away or a pleasant walk. There are many local pubs serving local ales and home cooked food.
Dunsland Park, a National Trust property is only 1 mile away and is perfect for picnics and walks with 900 years of history. Wander around the remains of Dunsland House which was lost in a fire in the 1960's with the grounds being a haven for wildlife and stunning displays of primroses and bluebells in the spring. Bramble wood and Cookbury plantation are also within easy reach for walks and exploring.
Cycle route number 3 runs right past our CL site which leads to the Ruby Way cycle path, as well as the Granite way, the Pegasus and the Tarka Trail, all ideal for off road cycling. The historic market town of Holsworthy is 8 miles away where you will find a local produce and livestock market on Wednesdays, local shops, coffee shops and pubs. It also offers a historic trail, museum and a sports centre as well as a supermarket and various takeaways. Hatherleigh, 10 miles away, has a weekly market on Tuesdays for local produce and poultry auction as well as a post office and local shops and pubs.
Come and explore Devon's magnificent Ruby Country for yourselves!
Please note we are an Adult Only CL.

This is a lovely little CL but to be fair it could be so much better. The views are really lovely. The site is spacious and easy to access although it is definitely ‘slightly sloping’! You will need levelling blocks. Believe me. But it’s fine in a caravan. Harder I would imagine in a motorhome. The improvements .... well to start with the grass needs to be cut shorter and frequently. We have just had a wet few days and you do get a bit fed up with wet feet every time you do the morning chores. There’s pretty much no phone signal. So that means no wifi either. I wonder in this day and age why when you set up a nice CL in this sort of area you don’t add a wifi extender to offer a bonus to your visitors? The TV signal is fine. One more thing. When you’re setting up a site like this why wouldn’t you level off tiers for each pitch even if you don’t travel them? It would make it so much nicer. Don’t get me wrong ... this is a great site. But it could be so so much better. Paul and Donna are great. They will look after you and make you feel welcome so please don’t be put off. I’m just offering my humble opinion that it could be perfection here!
Response from the Club:
Many thanks for your review and we are delighted that you thought this was a lovely CL. Further to your review the CL owners have been in touch to advise that the grass is kept short but due to the wet weather they were unable to cut it as the tractor kept blocking. The grass was cut as soon as the sun came out. They don’t provide WiFi and don’t advertise that they do so it does depends on what phone signal members have. 02 works everywhere on the farm. They have not had any comments before about the site being too sloping and do have large motorhomes stay on the site with no issues. They are working really hard to ensure everyone has an amazing holiday at their site so they can enjoy beautiful Devon and hope to welcome you again soon.
