Why stay here ...

Lovely little caravan site for 4 units only situated close to the city, yet near to the sea and the countryside!

Willow Lodge Caravan Park is easy to find on the A165 Hull to Bridlington road, just two miles from the city of Kingston Upon Hull with lots of shops, cinemas and a waterfront. At the same time, the caravan park is also only a few miles from the East coast and the lovely towns of Bridlington, Hornsea and Withernsea. Go inland a few miles and you'll find the historic town of Beverley, market town of Driffield, and slightly further afield, the more famous city of York.

The caravan park has four caravan pitches and sits within a family owned and run garden centre, offering a rather unique set of onsite facilities including a gift shop, antiques centre, traditional sweet shop, aquatic centre, plants and of course, a cafe. With a family friendly public house just minutes walk away, you can easily while away a few hours here and keep everyone entertained.

Handy for Hull and Beverley

A small CL, really only 4 pitches although a wee Motorhome might fit on the end of the tapering site. No views as surrounded by fence and trees overhang the pitches. Some road noise. It’s secure as you are expected to lock the steel gate at all times, and there’s also a security gate to the garden centre that is locked out of business hours. However, there is a side gate that is not locked, for foot access. The Hornsey-Hull bus 240 will stop outside and runs hourly. You can change at Leven or Hull for Beverley, but there is one bus per day at 10 am that goes direct, returns at 13.30. A few yards up the main road lies the Hornsey Rail Trail, good for walker or cycling. Didn’t try the pub but looked okay.

Not so much a cl as a secure storage area with electric

Very disappointing site, it’s basically a storage area with water and electric, the pitches are hard standing completely fenced in with no view at all. Dogs welcome is a joke, the only place that dogs are allowed is on the actual pitch, they are not allowed anywhere on the garden centre including all the outdoor areas, the pub which is within walking distance has pet friendly on its web site, only welcome in the garden. The description of this site is a complete joke.

perfect to visit City of Culture

The closest we could find for visiting Hull, If you just want a hook up and a secure, clean and well laid out site, then this is the site for you, The bus can be flagged down immediately outside the site, one per hour. A really good hotel and restaurant next door with good food pleasantly served , and access to the garden centre during opening hours. Hull City of culture is a must, surprised by how much there is to see, don't miss the tour round the last remaining fishing trawler, worth more than one visit,

Seniors Sample Skirlaugh in Spring- II. (The sequel).

We were the other half of 'Cookandriver' so won't repeat all here, just endorse their good review. I will add that we were warned that the site may be noisy when we phoned to book - but did so anyway because we wanted to be near to Hull. We were also given good directions for booking in at the Garden Centre. On arrival, the staff could not have been more helpful. Yes, this site can be noisy during the day but this is offset by the good access to Hull and surrounding area, especially via the Trans Pennine Trail. Tranquil it's not but the rural views are quite a surprise so near to a large City conurbation.

Seniors Sample Skirlaugh in Spring.

This site suited us very well as we were visiting a student granddaughter in Hull. We also had bicycles with us and the proximity of the excellent Trans Pennine Trail was a great bonus. We cycled east to Hornsea one day and to The Deep at Hull on another day. Each about 7 miles away along a flat, easy trail. The availability of all meals at either The Gardeners Pub next door or the garden centre adjacent to the site was also very useful! We had an excellent, freshly cooked breakfast [open at 8am] and an evening meal at the pub and the garden centre was good for coffee and cakes! We also appreciated the 10% discount at the garden centre that was offered with our booking. The site is very well laid out with all 5 pitches spacious and hardstanding. There is electricity but no wi fi - this is feely available at the pub. There is a chemical emptying point and waste water is disposed of in the customary CL fashion - water the trees and plants! The site is adjacent to a busy road, so day-time noise is inevitable. Security is good with locked gates. We were four seniors in our party [2 motorvans] and we had a great short break and will no doubt return with another food parcel for the student!
