Why stay here ...

Valesmoor Farm, situated on the southern edge of the New Forest principally provides DIY livery facilities for 25 horses/ponies and their owners. We do not provide a purpose-built Club site.

Access to the site is off the B3058. While the entrance is wide, access is generally over a cattle grid, and down the driveway through our front garden towards the house.

The largest motorhomes are incongruous in such a setting, and those with twin-axle caravans may wish to approach us from the opposite direction and enter through the gate or over the cattle grid.

During the period from May to the end of October, for use as a Club Certificated Location, we release a large, slightly sloping, well-drained paddock, with electric hook-up points, adjacent to the back garden. Although there is considerable horsey activity elsewhere the site is quiet and peaceful and ideal for those who love animals, landscaped gardens and nature. Dogs and children, both well-behaved, are welcomed and there is plenty of play room. Pitches are allocated to optimise and ensure fairness of space provision.

Drinking water is available in the paddock and other amenities - shower, toilets, dustbins and chemical waste disposal point are in the vicinity of the house. When Club members arrive we personally show them round and invite them to drive to the forecourt to access these if this is more convenient. As one side of the paddock is lined by mainly mature oak trees, which attract wildlife, we also invite Club members to park further into the paddock if they so wish. The pitch price quoted is for four people.

The paddock is mown although a 'rough' area is left at the bottom for dog-owners' use. However, crossing the road provides direct Forest access for the latter, and the gently undulating New Forest landscape, which is covered by numerous conservation designations and provides opportunities for horse-riding and cycling. 'The Rising Sun' pub is within easy walking distance and children are welcomed.

There are supermarkets, cafes, etc., and public transport in New Milton which is a short drive away. Larger conurbations like Christchurch/Bournemouth or Southampton can be driven to in well under an hour and the Isle of Wight is easily reached from Lymington.

Extensive beaches some flat/sandy some pebble-strewn and others surmounted by cliffs are only a few miles away and like the local villages often provide historic features, e.g. Hurst Spit, and the wildlife lakes at Keyhaven which are historically associated with salt-mining.

Perfect for a horse mad 6 year old

Good welcome and lovely site Grand daughter loved going up to see the horses in the stables (keep behind the fence) and by the end knew all their name and fed most carrots with owners permission When that was not enough walk out of the gate and across the road are new forest ponies by the score Having been there on the hottest days of the year we went down to a shaded stream about half a mile away and along with about 20 others she had great fun -- especially when the stream gets taken over by horses or cattle in need of a drink A timeless scene which I remember from my child days in the forest Lovely flat site clean facilities great location If very hot try and book pitch under trees,as that shelters you from the sun up to midday

Lovely

We'd previously stayed on the New Centenary site but decided to use a CL this year. We chose Valesmoor Farm as we'd seen the entrance when visiting the Rising Sun PH. Whilst you definitely need to take care on entering and exiting the site, once you are in the paddock we thought it was beautiful. On the whole it was very quiet and peaceful unless the horses were calling to each other or the grooms but it is a Livery Stables first and foremost so to be expected. Just be warned because it was a rude alarm call the first morning !! Pitches were very well spaced and the facilities were adequate and spotlessly clean. The shower was in the owners garage/workshop - there was an additional charge for this - 20p got you around 3 minutes but you could load it with more if you wanted longer. The toilet next door to the shower had a big sink and hot water geyser which hubby used for a shave. The workshop also had a big map, leaflets and lots of details for emergencies (doctors, dentists, vets, mobile caravan fitters). The shower and toilet was available from early morning to late evening and there was also a 24 hour toilet. Out of the gate and you're in the New Forest Park and the Rising Sun is a 10 minute walk. Fairly flat if you're into cycling or running. Ideal for walking our dog when we didn't take him to the local beaches. Lots of ponies and cattle wandering around but they didn't bother us at all. All in all we were very impressed and have booked again for next year.

Lovely CL

We had 4 nights here in August. A warm welcome and a lovely big pitch. Peaceful site close to the New Forest and the coast. Clean toilets and showers and a nice bunch of people on site. Would happily stay here in our next visit

Excellent CL

Previous reviewers are spot on. Very peaceful location even though a well use road runs past the house as the CL is sited to the rear. Take care on entering as it could be tight for large outfits. It's a large paddock that easily swallows the units, not quite flat but easy enough to find a flat area to pitch. The shower is coin operated, £0.20 per 3 minutes, and there are 2 toilets as well as the usual other facilities, (didn't spot a m/h Emptying point). The Rising Sun pub serve good quality standard pub fare and is a 250 yard walk across the common. All other local amenities are nearby and plenty of interesting places to visit. An excellent place to stay and we wouldn't hesitate to stay again.
