Why stay here ...

Our CL is a quiet site with wide, easy access from the road. Oast House is a recently renovated 19th century house, set between the rural villages of Preston and Stourmouth. The site itself is on a large paddock, set back from the road and surrounded by other paddocks, orchards and open countryside. Pitches are lawned (flat), with electrical hook-up/mains water supplyand space for awnings. Children and pets are welcome.

The site is an excellent base for walking, cycling and exploring the local area. There is a local shop, family butchers and pub within half mile of the site. It allows easy access to historic Canterbury and Sandwich plus the interesting small towns of Faversham and Whitstable. The coastal towns with beaches and castles of Broadstairs, Dover, Deal, and Walmer are nearby.

The Oast House CL now has a small shop.  It stocks many things for caravans and motorhomes from gas, crockery, Elsan and Thetford toilet chemicals.  Plus is a stockist for both Thule RV, Fiamma and Vango tents.  We also will rent out picnic boxes with frozen ice blocks for the day.

Amongst the many other popular attractions are:-

  • National Trust: The White Cliffs of Dover and South Foreland Lighthouse, St Margaret’s Bay
  • Howletts Wild Animal Park
  • Wingham Wildlife Park
  • Goodnestone Park
  • Stodmarsh National Nature Reserve
  • Rare Species Conservation Centre, Sandwich
  • Several good golf courses including a pay and play course in Canterbury

There are a number of pubs and restaurants in the surrounding villages (Stourmouth/Preston/Wingham/Ickham) and England’s smallest Town, Fordwich. All offering a variety of good quality meals at reasonable prices.

Kevin and Julie look forward to welcoming you to their CL.

One of our favourites.......

A truly tranquil and peaceful site - so relaxing. A friendly welcome by Kevin is the perfect start to your stay. The grounds are so well kept and facilities are great. Location is ideal, picture perfect villages and lots of local walks on the doorstep. Lovely country pubs not far away. This is a must go to campsite.

Among the best CL Sites we have visited ...

This is a beautiful relaxing site. Nice and flat, easy to access from the road, well laid out amenities, well kept and easy to manoeuvre in. Set in a lovely quiet location surrounded by typically Kent countryside. Close to Canterbury and all the other coastal locations this is a great CL Site. If you go to Canterbury for the day I would highly recommend the Sturry Road Park & Ride as there is very little parking in the city. This only cost us £3.50 including our dogs (it covers up to 6 passengers, just show your ticket to the driver, you change travel on different buses and pay in the machine when you get back to the car) for the whole day. Back to the site there are a couple of pubs close by and some lovely walks. Kevin the owner is a super guy, extremely welcoming and easy to contact. This is definately among our list of top CL Sites and will be looking forward to returning...

A little gem in the Kent countryside

Just spent a five night break on this lovely CL. Superb clean site, with a very friendly welcome from Kevin, what more could I ask for? First CL that I have been to with its own accessories shop, where I bought items at a cheaper price than the internet!! Yes you are near a busy road but the noise didn’t bother us. Great base to visit Kent coast and also the many farm shops selling local produce fresh from the field. We had a great stay and will visit again in the future. Thank you Kevin.

Fantastic Site 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Credit to the CMHC

Fantastic Site 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Well what can I say this is my second visit to Oast House The new owners Ma & Pa Larkin make you so welcome . Kevin has built a small log cabin shop with all spares you need for you caravan or motorhome if it’s not there he can get it that’s Pa Larkin hahaha . There is a local convenience shop just 15 min walk up the road and the most amazing butchers for you BBQ food Highly recommended . If you love cycling or not and a good day out you can visit Sandwich to see Richborough Roman Fort And Amphitheatre ,Dover Castle and the remains of Reculver towers & Roman fort . Since going to the Oast House Kevin has fitted new WiFi and all the pitchers have new electrics . Kevin keeps the grounds absolutely spotless he is a credit to the Club Welshgold

Excellent CL Site

Spent 3 lovely days at the Oast House. The new owner, Kevin, gave us a very warm welcome and was extremely helpful. The site was beautifully kept and all necessary amenities were close to hand and very clean and well kept. The small shop on site was an extra bonus, selling toilet chemicals etc. We certainly did not find the road approaching the the Oast House an issue. It was not that narrow as to cause any problems at all. We wish Kevin all the best with his new venture. N and M from Normandy France. (23/03/2019)
