Nice Canal side Site
We stayed here in July 2020 and was greeted by the owner who gave us the nice corner plot by the path and was very friendly. This site is great for walking alongside the canal and we enjoyed the two local pubs that were in walking distance and dog friendly. There were two more pubs, one real ale and one more upmarket that we didn't have time to visit. Everyone we met on the canal were really friendly and chatty. The location of the site so near to the canal makes this site.
Wow! What a great location
A lovely grass site set next to the canal. Owner greeted us straight away, showing us the facilities of chemical disposal and drinking water. Waste water could be poured into the hedge row. There are slabs set into the grass to stop you sinking into the grass.
The site is in a fantastic location for walking and trying local ales, food. We counted 7 pubs many serving food and 3 restaurants as well as takeaways all within walking distance.
There are lots of comings and goings during the day of canal boat owners, which are nice to watch, but very quiet at night. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back.
12 night stay
We stayed for 12 nights to visit local attractions & also convenient for visiting family. The field is prone to becoming very soggy after heavy rain, the site owner looked after us & found a solid spot next to the house.
We were given a good welcome & was shown the facilities at our disposal. I would put this site in the category of being a good base. We were out most days enjoying walks along the canal, we walked to Chorley & to Botany Bay shopping centre. Great for spotting kingfishers etc along the canal side. We also made use of the trains which was a 10 minute walk away. We had days out in the Lake district, Liverpool & Manchester. You could hire a boat for the day or half day from a place a 15 minute walk away.
Not the best site we have been on, yet it was one of the best breaks we have had recently. Like I say we found ourselves more out & about rather than staying in the van.
As has been said the electrics will not support the electric heater so we did use plenty of gas. There were plenty of comings & goings in the yard from deliveries & the boating community fetching their post. That said everyone we came across were a very friendly bunch.
We will certainly be back.
A Lovely place to stay
My wife and I stayed here last weekend the 8-9th of October, we were looking for somewhere close to Chorley as our daughter had recently moved there.
Allanson Hall Farm is right on the doostep. Set on a small field alongside the main house and within 200 yards of the Leeds to Liverpool canal, this was a superb location to stay during our visit. The owner greeted us on arrival and showed me where all of the amenities were. he was very pleasant and made us feel very welcome.
The price we paid was very reasonable and included electric hook up although the hookup would not support electric fan heaters, but there was a sign that made this very clear.
There are lovely walks along the canal, and the bridge pub is only a short walk to the next bridge, we stopped for a drink and the staff and locals were very friendly. there are lots of shops and places to eat only a short drive away.
We loved it and found it to be a very relaxing place to stay. No doubt we will be back soon.

Could / Should be improved
Location of the site is ideal for visiting local attractions and being so near to the canal offers nice walks. However the toilet is a disgrace and for the site fee charged I feel it should have been to a higher standard. If this was addressed I would visit this site again. A more prominent sign would be an advantage , the site is uneven and could get stuck if wet, however the owner did point this out when we arrived.
