Why stay here ...

Set in idyllic countryside within the boundaries of a small working farm. Close to major road links, a great central location for exploring or just somewhere fabulous to unwind with nature.

Just out of your door the countryside welcomes you. There are great walks to the local village through a wonderful poplar tree lined ramble where you can enjoy the wildlife and birds encouraged to nest in the many bird boxes.

We have a stretch of non-navigable river which is laden with coarse fish (bream, carp, roach, chub, barbel, perch, pike).

The farm produces Dexter cattle and Wiltshire Horn Sheep if you would like a hamper of local produce (neighbours sausages and eggs, our home produced mince or dexter burgers, stilton and Melton Mowbray pork pies). Why not enjoy one during your stay or take one home as a reminder. We will charge batteries for an extra charge. We also have a fabulous lodge on site which is bookable through Airbnb, or Club members get a preferential rate when booking the lodge directly with the site.

Nice site

Stumbled upon this site when visiting Loughborough. Just pitched up and found the friendly owner the next day to pay - no hassle. Nicely cut, tidy level field with EHU and a couple of water points and nice clean proper Elsan disposal. Lovely view of cows in field. B road adjacent to site, you could hear traffic but it wasnt too busy at the weekend when we stayed and didnt spoil our visit, it felt peaceful and rural, as we enjoyed watching the cows. Cycled into Barrow, left the bikes in the high street and walked along the river/canal into Loughborough. Nice walk and the following day walked the opposite direction Mountsorrel and Quorn. All very nice. Would stay again.

Super location

Stayed here for 3 nights to visit our family in Loughborough. We looked at another site that is about a mile away....suffice to say we will use Ryecroft Farm again rather than the alternative! There is a road behind but to be honest we easily switched off and it did not disturb our sleep at all. Easily got through the metal gate with our 7.26 van. The location is perfect - less than 10 mins from town center and the site itself is nice. Its basic - a small field with a lovely view. Water and electricity and usual waste point and toilet emptying facility. Clean too. It's grass but we didn't have a problem with rain/water and its slightly sloping so water will drain away. If there was an issue owner said he would tow us off anyway. Owners very pleasant and accommodating. When we visit the area again we will stay here.

Returned here several times now

We have used this site several times now. Mainly as a one or two night stop when our son was at Loughborough University. We now use it as a stopover in longer journeys up north. It is by a B road but I certainly wouldn't say the noise is excessive, I have stayed at far worse. I'm a light sleeper and if it was that bad I would not have returned. In fact we are able to use it both ways this year and am more than happy to stay. I have tried other places nearby. One has similar facilities (hook up only) and the other was a nightmare trying to book so I gave up. I think nowadays it is rare to be charged less than the £14 a night for a CL and certainly cheaper than a hotel. The owners are welcoming and not at all intrusive. They don't try to sell you their meat but you only have to ask. There are take away places in Barrow if you need them. For shopping or eating out Loughborough is also close by. Don't knock until you've tried it!

Four night stay

We stayed here for 4 nights the access is extremely tight, road noise is constant from 5am till late evening t.v. and radio non existent ( even with digital Ariel and Avtex t.v.) local produce hampers advertised on web site never mentioned by owners) we won't be returning.

Not Sure

Spent 3 nights on this CL. We used Ryecroft as we wanted to see the Bee-eaters at East Leake which is about 6 miles from the site. The site is situated on a farm and is, with the exception of EHU,water and Waste, a non facilities site. There is no information point, WiFi but phone signal and radio reception is good. Unfortunately we now come to the negatives: 1. It is by a very busy minor road (Loughborough to Barton on Soar) which is only separated by a hedge. Traffic starts to build up about 5am on workdays 2. The entrance is fairly tight, not too much of a problem with us but I imagine a tag axle could struggle 3. Expensive at £14/night when you consider that a few miles away is a full facilities CL at £15/night As I am fairly noise sensitive I don't think I would return
