Why stay here ...

Woodlands park is sited in a rural part of Lincolnshire.

Quiet it maybe but with the A15 just 4 miles from the site it opens up a whole area of interesting places to visit and admire, from beautiful villages and towns like Market Deeping, Stamford and Spalding to cities like Peterborough and Leicester.

Stamford was the first town in the country to create a conservation area in 1967 and it has this to thank for the fact that over the subsequent half century much of its historical architectural heritage has remained intact. The town boasts 11 churches, 30 pubs and 20 restaurants. Most of the pubs serve Real Ale and are easy walking distance of the town centre.

Burghley House is a wonderful place to spend a day. Spalding has many places to see and visit from hiring a boat for a leisurely day on the river to places like Ayscoughfee Hall which stands in 5 acres of Gardens. The Hall tells the story of the people who lived here as well as local history, and the Gardens are full of interesting features including an ice house and War Memorial designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens. Ayscoughfee Cafe is open year round and is a great place for drinks and light refreshments. Spalding also offer seasonal occasions like the tulip festival.

Nearby to the camp site is the fenland airfield which offers an excellent range of facilities for the enthusiast or spectator who enjoys all that is flying. The Club runs events throughout the year to encourage aviation engagement at all levels. There is a restaurant at the airfields club house.

Peterborough is the nearest city and boasts many places to visit from the beautiful inspiring great cathedral church in the city centre and the Peterborough museum with over 200,000 exhibits, it is sure to capture your interest. For the history buff, Flag Fen is a great day out and you can see the uncovered section of the ritual causeway and the treasure it holds. Explore their reconstructed village from the Bronze Age and explore what life was like for our prehistoric ancestors.

For those quiet days you can visit Nene valley and parks or take a trip on the Nene Valley Steam Railway.
