OK but lots of dog mess

We stayed here for 4 nights, the site is sloping so you will need blocks. The owners and dogs were friendly. Toilet and shower were clean and modern. The site was smaller than other CL's we have stayed on and there is quite a bit of road noise from the busy B Road during the day but fine at night time. This is a working farm, which is fine, but the owners dogs roam about freely, which isnt a problem, but there is dog mess everywhere. Would probably benefit from gating off the Caravan areas so the dogs can't get in and mess everywhere.

Charming site.

On arrival, friendly welcome from Mrs Odell and doggies, Pip, Pickle, Bess and Fly, As stated, the farm is a working environment and there are some agricultural vehicle movements on the driveway separating the two areas designated for caravans so children would need to be monitored. We used the area containing pitches 3,4 and 5, gently sloping so levelling blocks are required. Each pitch has it's own drinking water supply, a nice touch and standard EHU. The use of the lovely wet room with good shower and toilet were much appreciated. Pitches 1 and 2 are located behind the house and are quite shady. There is a B Road adjacent to the site from which you enter, which was a little noisy at times ( we were there during BH) but became quiet in the evenings and silent at night. All we could hear were the owls hooting. Numerous birds visit the site including pheasants, robins, and thrushes. A small shop at the top of the road sold essentials, papers, milk eggs etc, and overall this was a great base site for visiting the surrounding area with its delightful villages and seaside to boot. Our Border collie made friends with the Mr Odell's working dogs and we were allowed to run him in the pasture in the next door field for exercise if needed.

Lovely site

I couldn't agree more with the previous review. The Odell's were so friendly and welcoming and yes, the washing facilities were great, and no problems with access to the site. We completely fell in love with the dogs who were so incredibly friendly and well behaved.  I took note of the one of the previous reviews about pitches 1 and 2, but these looked fine when we were there. Would we go back? Yes absolutely!

Friendly Welcome At Highfield House

We arrived at Highfield House for the Easter weekend to a very friendly welcome from Mrs Odell. We chose pitch 5 so that our children could watch the Lambs in the fields. Yes there is a slope to the field but the levelling blocks we took sorted that. The shower room is the best one I have encountered on the cl sites we have used. There was a little bit of road noise but this did not disturb our stay (pitch 5 is the closest to the road). As a working sheep farm the sheep dogs were sometimes out, this was lovely to see as we all like dogs, they were really friendly and they played with us. Our whole stay was great and the owners could not have been more friendly or helpful. We will definitely stay again.

Beware of pitches 1 and 2

On this site pitches 3 to 5 are in what looked like a lovely area on the right of the drive. On the left side behind the house and adjacent to a farm building are pitches 1 and 2 on a grubby piece of ground. We were given pitch 2 which was covered in dog poo. When we pointed this out to the owner she replied that she had 5 dogs and had not cleared up that day yet. It was obvious to us that the area hadn't been cleared for a long time and poo was well trodden into the pitch. There were also a number of in use rat holes around the pitch. We did not stay and would advise when you book not to accept pitch 1 or 2.
