Neat campsite and easy to obtain water, find rubbish bin etc. We booked the site as it advised there is an on-site restaurant, bar and pizza pop up evening on a Sunday. The restaurant appears to be permanently closed now……. The Sunday pizza event never appeared. Fortunately there is a pub within walking distance as we hadn’t taken much in the way of food therefore ate at the pub! As to the advertised walks from sure the trails were shoulder high over grown. You’d need a machete & lots of insect spray to undertake them! Fortunately we were only there two nights. You definitely need a car or transport to go somewhere unless you just want to sit by your van. Also as others mention there is periodic noise from motor mowers being repaired close by. Noted that planning permission was also being sought for 30 caravan spaces to be created on site. Might be worth checking facilities for future bookings!
Response from the Club:
The CL owner has been in touch as they want to ensure everyone has the best possible time on their CL Site and as such they would like to address your concerns.
The onsite restaurant is temporarily closed as there is a hot water issue but they hope to open again soon. This information is communicated to members when they book and the alternative is a pub where food can be served just a few minutes walk away. As the pub is under the same ownership as the restaurant they are giving our members a 10% off for the inconvenience.
The reference to overgrown hedges, this is a council issue and the CL owner is not responsible for the cutting of grass except on the CL.
The Pizza van is available on Saturdays 4-8pm during school holidays only. This is made clear on the communication that is sent to members (and clarified on their website) so guest are made aware of it.
The planning permission for 30 vans will be independent to the CL if the CL owner does decide to go ahead with any developments.
