Why stay here ...

This year (2018) marks the 18th year in which we have been running our CL site at 'Rose Cottage', which has simply evolved by listening to members welcoming ideas and suggestions, many of whom have been returning for the past decade and beyond! This of course makes for wonderful friends and familiar faces.

We have our own children (long since flown the nest), and we have enjoyed a lifetime of family pets (three wonderful dogs and our beloved cat 'Bella') but suffice to say, that apart from a very short foray in the early days, our site has been 'Adult Only' and we do not accept dogs.

Rose Cottage sits at the edge of Holt (a vibrant Georgian Town of independent shops and facilities) and is just a half mile walk from the High Street, the majority of which is by way of a footpath. The town has numerous tea rooms, antique shops, and a rather good Budgens, which is owned by Bakers & Larners department store, which in itself has a wonderful food hall.

Geographically, Holt is only 3 miles from the coast, and very well placed for exploring the beautiful and undulating North Norfolk countryside! It's National Trust properties and Bird Reserves at Cley and Titchwell.

Our lawned site of approximately 1.5 acres, is firm, well drained and in an elevated situation with distant undulating views of fields and woodland. It is situated a good distance from the road and is undisturbed by passing traffic. We have our own adjoining 2 acre paddock which is retained as short grassland and provides a habitat for our sometime resident ‘Barn Owl’. We often have sightings of Buzzards, Red Kite, Hares and Deer.

It is often commented upon that our pitches are extremely generous, which are individually sectioned by low growing pine trees for added privacy. The pitches are also situated in a line to one side of the site which affords uninterrupted views without looking onto your neighbour. We have six pitches in total (which allows for alternate resting) however we do keep the grass short and kindly ask that you do not use a groundsheet. Two of our pitches are partially sloping (blocks supplied) although members have always advised that they are perfectly acceptable.

Our chemical emptying point (which has been commended over the years for its ease of use) is discreetly situated along with the refuse and recycling bins.

We also have a T.I.P (tourist information point) which is a small shed containing local information and tourist leaflets.

Finally, we would just like to say a big thank you for all your encouraging comments and also for the website reviews! It is most rewarding and much appreciated!

We look forward to welcoming both new and regular members to Rose Cottage.

Richard & Vanessa

Peaceful and beautiful views

Just returned from a lovely weekend. Very quite , Peace and tranquillity, really good sized private pitches, all with electricity, we were the only ones there, had the whole site to ourselves, just perfect for resting and relaxing. Very well looked after and cared for site. Lovely walk into Holt. Richard was very friendly. Wish more CL sites were like this. Definitely booking up for when it reopens.

A fantastic CL

We have just returned home from our eleventh visit to this brilliant site over the past ten years. It has everything we enjoy, the views, the peace, the wonderful skies and the lovely places we can visit plus adults only and no dogs. Its nice to be able to chat to Richard the owner, some sites we have visited we have never seen the owners, not sites for a return visit. Can’t wait for January to book our next trip.Five stars Richard, keep swatting those pesky mole heaps!!! Finest CL in England

We have just returned home after spending another wonderful eight days at Rose cottage. This site has everything that a couple would desire whilst visiting the North Norfolk coast. Peace and tranquillity, good sized pitches, all with electricity, and with convenient access to Holt. There is lots to see and do within the area and there is lots of information in the shed on site. Richard and Vanessa and their family are only to helpful to provide the visitor with and help and advice. In our opinion, this is the best CL in England. ,

Peaceful site, convenient for Holt and the North Nofolk Coast

As previous reviews, it is a lovely peaceful site with good facilities and disposal points. The owner welcomed us on arrival and although we paid immediately, he wasn't concerned if we'd left it a day or so. Unfortunately, because of ill health, we had to leave after only one night. The site is a short drive from the coast at Cley next the Sea and the town of Holt, both of which are delightful. The smokehouse in particular at Cley is well worth a visit and there is some lovely walking on the coast. The only disappointment for us was that you are no longer able to walk to Holt across the fields and the road is quite narrow with no footpaths for a good part of the way.

A Stunning Site in a Peaceful Setting

Having just returned from a short break in North Norfolk I cannot rate this site too highly. If I could give it 10 stars then I would. Richard was very helpful and was able to squeeze in an extra night for us. My advice is to drive down to Cley leave the car in the village hall car park and use the coasthopper which runs every half hour. Take the opportunity to sample the local dressed crabs smoked fish from the Cley smokehouse and Norfolk lavender bread from the Cley deli. Many thanks Richard we had a marvellous time you made us very welcome and we will be back.
