Good location

Ideally located for visits to Ripon, however access can be tricky if cars are parked along the road near to the site. Also a shame that the owner’s dog is allowed to use the site as a toilet.

Ideal for visiting Ripon, Ripon Races or Newby Hall

I stayed 5 nights at this quiet CL in the village of Copt Hewick. It was an ideal base for me to get to Newby Hall, where I was setting up for a week long geocaching event. The site is quite small, but there is plenty of room between the grass pitches. It is lovely and quiet, with no road noise. The site is sheltered from the weather by surrounding trees, which are popular with the local owls. I lay in bed one night and could see a young owl on a branch above my caravan skylight, waiting for its’ mother to feed it! The owners keep hens in a large run, I loved going and seeing the ‘girls’ on an evening, they’re very friendly. The site is level, all pitches have EHU and there is drinking water and elsan point close by. Quite a basic, no frills site, if you are looking for manicured grass and panoramic vistas this isn’t it, but perfect as a base to go sight seeing in the local area. Ripon is just a 10 minute drive away, as is Newby Hall and Ripon Races. Only saw the owner on the day I was leaving as I spent most of my time off site, but very friendly chap. Highly recommend the nearby Black A Moor pub, which is just a 5 minute drive, or 15 min walk from the site, excellent food, dog friendly. I will most definatley stay at this CL again.

Our second stay

Having stayed before, it was again a pleasant stay, with beautiful weather to boot. Fresh eggs is always a bonus also. Entrance is a little tight if cars are parked near by it. 3 other caravans stayed during our weekend stay and is always nice to share CL site favourite stays. Look forward to staying again.

Good site

We stayed here so we could visit Ripon. It was a fairly easy walk via some footpaths. Lovely village and friendly owners, enjoyed our outlook on the hens!, I would keep calling them chickens !! Thanks Paul Motorhomer from Norfolk.
