Does what it says on the tin.

As others have said this site has far reaching views of Whitby and the Abbey, slightly sloping but levelling ramps countered this. Fresh and grey water with a facility to empty the toilet cassette and a bin for your waste. We really enjoyed sitting watching the lambs just feet away as we relaxed taking in the scenery. Whilst there maybe some road noise during the day you're probably out adventuring and in an evening any traffic has got to where its going. We would stay again, I love CL's without EHU aka known as sites with a high probability of no children, bikes or footballs.

No frills, well-kept site, far-reaching views to Whitby

This is a no frills, well-kept grass site with no cut grass lying around to tramp into the van. It's slightly sloping but we have ramps so no probs with that. There's a standpipe with drinking water and a clean bin for rubbish. The lane the other side of the high hedge carries some daytime-only traffic and was peaceful at night. Mr Hutton was quick to return my call, which we appreciated, didn't get to meet him as he was combining but he was very friendly. The big plus for us was the far-reaching view towards Whitby and the sea, and the peace and quiet. We came back for a second night.

Wonderful views

We stayed here at the end of June and had good weather. As with a previous review, we missed the field and drove too far. We were the only ones on the site, although the adjacent Camping and Caravan site was quite full. The view of Whitby was wonderful and the picture gives a really good representation. Although we had booked earlier in the year, phoned ahead on the day of arrival, and left a message on the answerphone, we had no contact with the owner, and in the end I send a cheque by post for the pitch fee. We really enjoyed our stay, and enjoyed some good walks from here using an OS map. I would recommend, and add that during the night we did not get any road noise, but it is quite a busy road day time.

Stunning views but some road noise

We stayed for 2 nights in September. The views across to Whitby were excellent but we found the noise from the adjacent road spoiled our peace and quiet. The grass was slightly long and leveling blocks would be necessary for most positions in the field. Our dealings with the owner were friendly although we never actually met him. We left our money as instructed. Overall not bad value as it was close enough for us to cycle into Whitby.

Beautiful Views, but not ideal if wet

Initially we pulled in to the neighbouring larger caravan site as the signage to this site was not particularly clear. The entrance to the site does not have the easiest access.  Unfortunately, the weather was extremely wet and although this had only been the case for a few days, the site ground was very soft and muddy. The site is sloping and levelling blocks would be a good idea, depending where you pitch. I would also suggest that unless you have a 4x4 or a promise of very dry weather, you might want to think this one through as we would not have got our van out of the mud without ours as it had sunk in only 4 days! Having said all of this; the views of Whitby in the distance are fantastic. The price of the site is not unreasonable and the dealings I had with the owner (only via phone) were easy and pleasant. :-)
