Go Ape - Sherwood Pines
UK's No.1 Forest Adventure. Fly down zip-wires, leap off swings and tackle crossings across amazing scenery.
View and BookAbbey Quarry is situated in the village of Linby, Nottinghamshire. The nearest town is Hucknall which is immediately to the south-west. The village grew up around the mills on the River Leen, from which Linby’s name is derived from. Small streams known as Linby Docks run on both sides of the main street. The village also has a farm shop, local pub and is a great starting place for many walks.
Abbey Quarry was a long-established Limestone quarry and the last of the Linby Quarries producing the locally distinctive ‘Bulwell Stone’ which features in the historic built environment in and around Nottingham and is commonly associated with boundary walls.
Since the decommissioning of the quarry extensive re-wilding works have been carried out from 2016 to return the place to nature. Now the quarry is home to many native species.
